Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Are you bringing your LO's to the fireworks?

We could go into DC to watch the fireworks from the top of my DH's office roof so we get a good view and they are not that loud.  The problem is DD's bedtime-she is usually out by 7/7:30 and doens't sleep well when we are out and about-way too curious.  I'm thinking no but DH kind of wants to try it.

  • I was also debating this. LO's bedtime is anywhere from 7-9 pm but I was also worried about the noise. We would probably be out on a boat, I guess it's something I have to take into consideration...

  • No...DD doesn't like loud noises.  I'm thinking about going up to my parent's house up in the mountains because there's going to be a bunch of illegal big ones flying over our roof that day.
  • We will be my birthday is the 3rd and we always go the the local fireworks show in Addison on my birthday (its always on the 3rd) and dd doesnt go to bed til 10 so she will sleep on the car ride home if we are out later then that. Im not too worried about the noise.

I'll be at kaboom town too!  I work in Addison right by the airport where they shoot em off, so we have prime location.  I will just sit in the car with her if the noise bothers her!

  • Most likely. We went to Disney world and he slept through their firework display which has music and a lot of loud booms. We will see though.
  • YES!

DD has already seen fireworks (last weekend) and loved them

plus she has a later bedtime

  • probably not. DD is very sensitive to loud noises.

She cried hysterically for 30 min because we were changing her diaper in a public bathroom and someone flushed the toilet! I think fireworks will be way too much for her!

  • We've taken DD to fireworks at a ball game and she LOVED them. Not sure yet about the 4th- we will see how she's doing that day and play it by ear, but if she's rested and we are up for negotiating the crowds (or find a less crazy spot to watch) we will absolutely take her!

  • My DH is a firefighter and will be on-shift on the 4th of July. My parents are coming into town for the 4th and so we will all go and see the fireworks in the town where DH works. My plan is to get Tegan to take a late nap and home that she stays awake for the fireworks show. I'd like to see her reaction to the fireworks. If she doesn't that's fine, she should sleep through the show. My child can sleep through just about anything!

  • Yes!  We are going to St. Louis to see the fireworks over the arch.  We bought ear muffs for her like these:

     https://www.amazon.com/Peltor-97070-Junior-Earmuff-Black/dp/B000I7NX5E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1277413825&sr=8-2

And I figure, its one night, so if she stays up late oh well.  Hopefully that doesn't backfire on me :)

  • Yep, sure am.  She doesnt mind loud noises, she really doesnt scare at anything and her bedtime is 11pm so not a problem for us.  Can't wait to see what she thinks of them!
