Cleaning LO's nose...

I'll try not to get too graphic but...How do you clean inside LO's nose?  Do you still use the nasal aspirator?  DS always has grossness inside his nose and freaks (and I mean freaks) out when I even get close to try and clean it.  I pretty much need 2 people to hold him down to even attempt to get in there!

Any tips?

Re: Cleaning LO's nose...

  • I give DD a toy to play with and then take a boogie wipe and wipe the front, and if there's crusties or other boogies inside I'll take a q-tip, wrap the boogie wipe around it and gently wipe just inside to get it out. I only use the aspirator if she has a runny nose and it's drippy.

  • Mason doesn't really like the aspirator anymore since he was sick, so now I just use one of the baby safe q-tips to get something out real quick. If it it actual snot and not a booger then I'll use the aspirator.
  • i 2nd the Q-tip but i do use an adult one and just be careful not to go to far.

  • We spray saliene and suck it out with the aspirator. Thankfully DS likes the nose sucker!

  • The aspirator has never worked on my little man.  I just have to pin him down and use a Q-tip.
  • The booger sucker (as we call it) is a life saver. Katie is now just realizing that it helps her. She used to scream when she was little, but now, she just sorta makes a funny face when I use it on her. For those crusty boogers, I usually just put a wipe on my pinky and try to get it out that way. If that doesn't work, I pull out the Q-Tips.
