Babies: 6 - 9 Months

We have standing and waving!

I can't believe this is all happening so fast, it seems like the first 4 months of her life went like molasses....then came rolling, teeth, scooting, and then at 6.5 months sitting unassisted, getting into sitting like a pro, then army crawling, then mama and dada, now real knee crawling, and then last night standing on her own and waving!

She still will only pull up to stand on things that are lower than she is.  Like she won't reach up for the coffee table and pull herself up, but she will get into standing on a lower toy or if I'm laying on my side she'll pull up on me to be standing next to me.  And this morning I waved bye bye at her and she waved back, love it!

Someone told me that there is never another year like the first, when there are so many changes and milestones and so much excitement.  I'm really enjoying this stage of exploration and newness.  Nothing is better than the huge smile she gets on her face after she pulls herself up and is standing there and I'm cheering and clapping.  Well, except maybe this morning when she and daddy and I snuggled in bed and watched Micky Mouse Play House.  Smile

I think one of the coolest things is that they instinctively know what to try next.  I don't think she knows yet that she will eventually be walking, she just knows to try putting a foot on the floor and pushing up, and then both feet.

Next time around I think I'll skip the newborn stage and head straight for this one.  Wink  Time is FLYING now!

  • Wow, such a busy time for her!

It is truly amazing to watch them develop, and you're right, it is incredible how they just seem to know what is supposed to come next!  I've been showing waving to Nate lately, I hope he catches onto it soon!  I can't wait until he starts to talk.

  • The first year is so much fun as you're watching all their firsts.  I found the second year to be fun too, though.  There's talking, running, talking in sentences, reasoning--stuff like that.  The stuff Samuel picks up blows my mind.

Congrats on the standing!  It's so exciting to watch them do new things.  I screamed so loud the neighbors heard me when Sam peed on the potty for the first time a few weeks ago!
