Babies: 6 - 9 Months

teething question

my baby seems to be teething -she is 9 months old and has no teeth as of yet.I know fever is common with teething but how high is too high a fever for it to be non teething related?

Also she is not that interested in eating-is this common as well?

TIA

Any other info on teething that you guys have is welcome.

Re: teething question

  • My DD has never had a fever but I would assume anything higher than a low grade fever would probably warrant a call to the doctor.  As far as the eating thing I think it depends on the baby. DD refuses to eat solids when she's teething but she does seem to increase how often she nurses though.

  • DS has never had a fever, but refuses solids when teething.  I don't think fever goes along with teething, especially one over 101.  If your LO has had a fever for a few days then I would call the pedi.
  • As a general guideline I've always been told anything over 100 is not teething.

DD had a low grade fever, but I think it was just coincidental because she also had a runny nose and was probably just sick.  While she would eat solids and refuse bottles, she didn't eat much at all.  She cried a lot in the evenings, I think because during the day she was too distracted to notice the pain.  She also drooled a lot and would wake up often at night.
