Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I need advise for feeding solids

I think im way behind with the solids. DD has b/m bottles during the day at the sitters. I have been giving her about an oz. oatmeal in the am and about an oz of fruit or veggie in the evening. Should she be getting more solids at this point? Can you give me an example of what your LO is eating. thanks

Re: I need advise for feeding solids

  • Babies don't need solids at all at this point.  If she seems like she's hungry for more, give her more or add another meal.  Otherwise, you're doing just fine.  No need to worry about whether she's getting enough.

My LO has 2 solid meals per day, 1-2 oz each

  • Don't worry about it, until 12 months, solids are more about practice than nutrition. BM or formula should be their primary source of nutrition.  As long as you're doing some solids, you're doing fine!
  • My LO's ped said the exact opposite of the PP. She said at 6 months they need more nutrition than just formula/BM. I give my LO a fruit in the morning, and a veg in the afternoon. I give him a container of the fruit or veg b/c he won't eat the rice cereal, not even if i mix it. His ped says it's perfectly fine.
