Well, I survived my first days on my own with Charlie...DH went back to work yesterday. I have been peed on several times and I have not had a chance to shower in 2 days, LOL.
Still recovering from the C section and praying that my thrush and shingles will go away soon!!
The hospital called and Charlie needs to go back to repeat his pku test. They said they did not collect enough blood for the sample. Poor little guy needs to get pricked again. ![]()
Re: Survived
Hehehehehe, I never thought a shower would be a luxury, but here we are, sitting in our own filth.
It sounds like you're in good spirits, considering. Yay!
Glad you survived and sorry about LO getting stuck again.
And yeah, I've become remarkably ok with showering every other day.

Yep, showers have been elevated to a new level, especially ones when you know you won't be interrupted!
Bummer on the re-stick. DD was jaundiced and we had to have two post discharge and it's not fun
Aaron also had to have two tests for his Bili levels (he was mildly jaundiced too and also dehydrated). Was not fun. Sorry you have to go back.
And I feel ya on the showering. I'm not sure how I managed to shower those first few weeks. DH has started getting up earlier to keep an eye on Aaron before he leaves for work so I can shower. And if there's a snafu, I shower when Aaron takes his morning nap.
I think if one survives the first 2 months (maybe 3), you're good for any crisis!

Charlie is a little cutie. I love his hair!. Hopefully your recovery goes fast.
Re showering, i somehow managed to take a shower 6 out of 7 days a week. Not necessarily my hair, but at least a body shower. What worked for me was the bouncy seat. I'd put it in the bathroom, on vibrate, put the music on & DD would be fine in it. In fact she is just now starting to get a little antsy in it & she is 11 months. Yeah I sure got use out of that thing! Now I have to figure out what to substitute it with, maybe the highchair with some toys.
Good job, Mom! I am sure you will really enjoy your next shower!
DD had to get pricked for blood a bunch of times, too, as she was also jaundiced. The tech told us tha tthe crying and squirming actually help it go a bit faster, because it increases blood flow to the extremities so he can get his smaple for quickly. No clue if that is true or something he tells worried parents, but it does make some sense. It still sucked having it done so many times - her tiny feet had so many bruises.
Good job, mama!
Showering was always a challenge for me while on maternity leave. DH still hasn't been peed on and I keep telling him it's not fair, lol, but I've only had it happen once. Just cover that thing up fast, even if it's just with a cloth diaper or something. lol
About the 2 week mark was when I could tell a big improvement in recovery from the c-section. Sorry to hear about the thrush & shingles! I can't imagine going through all of that on top of c-section recovery.
Luckily, Charlie will get over the pricking quickly and won't remember a thing.
aww sorry about the thrush, shingles, and that your little guy needs to get pricked again. i HATED watching that! : (
charlie's SO stinkin cute. enjoy this time with him bc he'll be much bigger before you know it.

Oh, I hear ya! I'm just about to sneak off for my every-other-day-shower right now (DH is sitting with our dozing baby girl). BF-ing is a full-time challenge still (and I always let the baby drift off to sleep in my arms before putting her down, so that's more time I'm spending sitting & rocking the little girl, but she's so adorable I just love it!)
Tomorrow, my parents are leaving (they live far away & have been here since the birth) & then Monday, DH goes back to work, so I am feeling anxious about how I'm going to cope on my own with the baby... hopefully I'll get by just fine... Your message gives me hope. But showering, I expect that's going to be a big challenge.
Hang in there & keep us posted on how you're doing, and I hope things go well.
