Bib?

Just wondered...does your 2 year old still wear a bib at mealtime? It is becoming such a struggle to keep their bibs on at mealtimes, but they are still such messy eaters. DH says they are too old for a bib and just leave it off...but he doesn't do their laundry!! Just wondered what you do?

Re: Bib?

  • I haven't used a bib in a long time, since she was at least 1 1/2...

  • My 25 month old still wears a bib. I think most kids her age have stopped, but I am so tired of getting food stains out of clothes. She does not seem to mind, so I plan to continue until she can stay clean (maybe kindergarten!).

I know at DC they don't use one. I have sent it with her, but they don't use it.

  • We still use one most of the time.  DD started taking hers off awhile back and then we discovered the IKEA bibs with sleeves.  They are fantastic!  Kept food off her arm (she had a habit of wiping her mouth on her shoulder) and she couldn't get them off.  She can get them off now, but she tends to leave them on,
  • DD wears a bib for messy foods like yogurt, apple sauce, pasta with red sauce, etc.  She knows to ask for it and takes it off herself when she is done.
  • Thanks! I am going to look at Ikea for those bibs...they sound perfect. Also-just using them for really messy items does sound better-then maybe there won't be such a struggle.
  • We still use a bib and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.  Like you said I am the one who does the wash and he gets filthy if he doesn't wear a bib.  I use binder clips to hold the bib on since the velcro hasn't worked in a long time, this works great and is cheap.  Also, we have been known to just take his shirt off if its a super messy meal.
