Adoption

It's all done

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update-I wrote yesterday saying my water broke. My contractions came on really good about 5 or 6 am, and we headed to the hospital. When I was admitted, I was 5cm dilated, and labor progressed quickly from there. I delivered at 10 am, and was I ever glad to have that boy outside of my body. Adoptive mom and dad arrived 1 hour before he was born, and the plan was for them to be in the delivery room, but all kinds of embarassing things were happening.(If anyone of you have ever been present at a birht, you know that body fluids flying everywhere is not uncommon lol!)

So I said they could come in right when the baby was crowning, but I ended up pushing him out so fast, and they were not able to get in there in time. They came in right after he as out, and the adoptive dad cut his cord. It was quite a humbling experience. We spent  the afternoon together and our family came in to meet the new baby, and we all got pictures, exchanged gifts...you know, the typical baby-welcoming party. Then DH and I spent the night with our beautiful baby boy. He is so beautiful and sweet.

This morning brought more tears, as final things were put in place, and we prepared to say goodbye to him. But we have such incredible peace, and we know it is the very best thing that we could do. It was so good to see Mike and Lynn in love with their new baby. So now we are at home, and just waiting for things to feel normal.   I think we are still in shock. But it feels good to finally be done with the part that I really thought would be impossible. The hardest part is over. Where do we go from here? I'm unsure at this point, but will continue to rely on God for guidance, as He has brought us this far, and He knows what He is doing.

  • Wow! Thank you for sharing your story. You are an amazing and strong woman. I'm sure it is a big relief to have it over but I know you must be hurting too. I will be thinking of you, your DH and your baby boy. You have brought the greatest amount of joy possible to Mike and Lynn, they must be ecstatic!

2 years TTC with 5 losses, 1 year recovering, 6 months applying for adoption approval, and almost a year waiting for a placement. Then, a miracle BFP at age 36!
