Sleep issue ?

When it is time for bed DD is fighting it so hard. This just started a couple of days ago. As soon as she starts getting sleepy we put her in her bed but the past couple of nights as soon as we do she starts screaming like someone is hurting her and she wont calm down until I pick her up and hold her for a little bit. I have tried rocking her until she is sleepy again but as soon as I put her back in her bed it starts all over again.

Lately, she will only fall asleep if she is laying on me or DH, and we can't just put her in her bed as soon as she falls asleep or she will wake up screaming again. I don't want her to get in a habit of having to have us there to lay on so that she can fall asleep.

Her DCP says she does great with her naps and she naps great on the weekends when she is with us. It is just at bedtime that she freaks out. I need advice on how to break this.

Sorry this got a little long but thank you for reading.

TIA

  • I don't know if you ar open to letting her fuss for a bit.  I always said I wouldn't let her CIO, but I couldn't keep going in & rocking her back to sleep 3-4 times per night.  I decided that I would let her fuss for 5 minutes & then go in & soothe her...she fell asleep at 4 minutes.  I will say she wasn't ever crying ...more of a fuss.

I have tried to let her fuss a little bit that just makes her more upset. It seems like the longer I wait to go in the louder she screams. But I do have to say that the longest I have ever waited is about 7 minutes. (and that killed me to listen to her cry)

Build up to about 10 minutes.........start out with 5 minutes - check on her and soothe and dont pick up and then wait anohter 5-6 and keep going until she falls asleep.  I know it sounds like it sucks but it really does work.  DS goes to bed wide awake now and sleeps 12 hours.  6pm-6am!!
