why do some of the bottles have oily residue?

Some of my bottles have an oily residue. I don't have a dishwasher so I have to handwash, but I do use hot water and dawn dish soap. I let them soak for a bit, then wash and rinse. Sometimes there will still be an oily residue in the bottles or on the nipples. I don't add any other dishes in the sink when I'm washing the bottles.

Any suggestions?

  • I find that if someone other than me washes bottles, there is a residue.  I scrub really well with a bottle brush, and I'm guessing thats the issue when I dont wash them

  • It's from the fat in the milk.  If you use a bottle brush, it should help but be careful about which kind you use.  I had one with silicone bristles and that one didn't work at all to get rid of the oils.  Most bottle brushes also have an attachment to clean the nipples.
