I called my insurance today to see what was covered. They cover all the tests and diagnostics to find out what is causing my infertility but no IVF or IUIs or anything that assists in getting pg

I hope none of those are needed because I don't know that we can afford IVF or even IUI (not sure how expensive this is.)

Re: Found out my IF coverage on my insurance...
Well, I am glad they cover the testing (we have spent THOUSANDS oop on the tests alone) but that is really sucky that they won't cover IUI at least.
IVF doesn't surprise me, but IUI does. I really hope those are not neccessary and the tests show nothing that can't be easily corrected.
That stinks. But I hope you don't need it.
One thing you may want to clarify....when I did my IUI, I found that most of the IUI procedure was actually labeled by insurance as diagnostic. So all of my ultrasounds to check follicies and bloodwork were diagnostic. The only portion of the IUI that I had to pay for was the actual spinning of the sperm and the procedure itself. I think I ended up with $200 or something in that cycle.
My insurance only covers testing (and not all tests) and blood work......nothing else. We have been totally OOP for our IUIs and it sucks. IUIs are much less expensive than IVF - at least where I live.
I'm sorry - IF sucks.
That's kind of sucky, but at least they cover something! Ours is a certain amount lifetime maximum, and that includes all the diagnostics. It doesn't go far at all.
I think that, in the world of IF, IUIs are pretty reasonable, cost-wise. Definitely moreso than IVF. But I really hope you don't need either.
12 long, hard years of TTC-
Miscarriages, losses, lots of treatments & drugs & IVF
Natural BFP (WTF?!) - 06/04/11 ~ lots of complication and drama, but sweet baby Adele born 02/07/12!
BFP #million -another girl for us! EDD - 05-08-15 (but will come early)
Mine is the same way. And as I discovered yesterday even though they covered my HSG there was a $250 co-pay b/c its considered outpatient surgery.
I hope your tests come back fine or even better you get k/u before then
My only thoughts are that I've seen a huge variability on the costs of IUIs on this board so it might pay to price shop. I'm doing one this month that will be about $1500-$2000, I've seen others say the whole thing was $750 to $1000
My insurance also covers diagnostic testing, but no actual infertility meds or treatments. But, we've had a nice surprise, my insurance has covered all the ultrasounds for my IUI's! I'm very surprised, but I'm not going to question it. DH has a flexible spending account through work, so we've been using that for meds and IUI's. FYI, my RE charges $275 for IUI, not including meds or monitoring.
