Lately I've had issues with this when I get up in the middle of the night, but this morning it cracked so hard and hurt so bad I couldn't breathe.
So I looked it up and it's apparently something called SPD possibly caused by pelvic misalignment, and consequently, the baby could be malpositioned and make for a more painful/harder birth.
AHHH
So now I'm wondering if I should go get adjusted or something??
Anybody dealt with this?
Re: Pelvic Cracking... ouch
I was diagnosed with SPD at 25 weeks. Luckily, although it has at times been painful, my doctor assures me that it does no harm to the baby. She suggested wearing a support belt and/or seeing a chiropractor. I wear the support belt and I do find that it helps. I did not see a chiropractor, because the pain is manageable. When I roll over in bed, it's an 'active' process, because I have to sit up and manually turn over or I feel like I'm breaking in half. I also have to sit down to put pants on- lifting up one leg and then the other is a whole new kind of painful. Sometimes stairs are bad too, but then I'll just crawl up on my butt if I'm home or take the elevator if in public.
I have had exactly what you describe- pain so blinding that it knocks my breath out for a few seconds. But now I know what to do to avoid it, so it is what it is. Since you're so late in the game though, I think you should ask your doctor- I think SPD usually shows up earlier in a pregnancy.
I would get to the chiro asap! I have been dealing with this since about 14 weeks and it can be very painful! My baby has been transverse for most of the pg and now that the baby is head down it is VERY managable and not very painful.
I would also look into safe positions for pushing. You DO NOT want anyone pushing back on your hips.
I hope you are feeling better soon!
I had this with DS and I was unable to deliver him vaginally (there were other issues too and I ended up with an emergency c/s). I don't think it would hurt for you to see a chiropractor about it. The only reason I didn't in my pg with DS is because we lived in a city that had next to no chiros specializing in pregnancy.
ETA: I should probably also add that I have it again in this pregnancy, and I have been seeing a great chiro I found. The pain is still there, but I no longer have trouble walking without pain or getting out of bed. I am also definitely more limber than I was when the pain first started coming, so it's helped a ton!
