Sydney did awesome her first night unswaddled! She slept for TEN hours (9:00-7:00)! She was able to get herself right back to sleep the few times that she stirred. Ahhhh... good stuff!
I put her bumpers in her crib yesterday afternoon and laid her in there a few times to get her used to something different. When I actually put her down for the night, I laid her on her side (that is her preferred napping position). She stayed like that until about 5:00 this morning! Then, she was on her back, then her belly. Yeah... the belly thing is going to take some getting used to! I had my eyes glued to the monitor and then I went in to check on her a few times.
Really though, we had a great first night. She is such a big girl now.
Re: update - small milestones & sleeping unswaddled
Yay Sydney!
Our pedi told us that if DD got herself onto her stomach it was fine. I confess that it was still a bit unnerving and I checked on her way more than usual at first. She really seemed to sleep better that way, though.
Liz - Sorry honey. One step forward, two steps back, I guess. Just take your cues from her. She'll let you know when she is ready. Or you can be like me and swaddle her until she is almost six months old :P
And listen... our first night could have been a fluke too. We'll find out as we go.
