New pumping room :)

I've been back to work for about 6 weeks -- it's a small company and very few people have kids. I'm the first person in our office to ever pump at work and wasn't sure how they'd deal with it, but they gave me an empty office and have been supportive.

Just now, the director let me know that they're ordering a couch and table to set up an official "pumping room" so that I'll be more comfortable. She said that's how it should be and this way the next person will have some place to use too.

I felt so weird talking to them about it at first, but I'm glad I did.

That is so awesome! I'm so grateful to have a "mothers room" at work after reading on here where others have had to pump!

That's what I thought I'd be doing too, but there were layoffs while I was on maternity leave and a couple of offices became empty. Things worked out -- don't be afraid to ask, they may be able to work something out for you.

I would ask if I were you!  In NYS, employers are legally required to provide a clean, appropriate, private space for pumping and it cannot be a bathroom.

That's awesome! I found out today that our walmart has a mothering room! It was raining really hard and I said something to one of the workers about having too bf in the dressing room if the rain didn't let up. I was shocked when she said, "Actually, we have a really nice room for moms." I didn't end up having to use it, but I think that is awesome. She said that they keep it locked and you have to ask a manager to unlock if for you. It is for shoppers and employees.
