I know you sell on eBay and I was wondering if you can help me with a few questions. I have been reading their website but I keep getting lost on a few things. When you sell do you:
-add a Reserve price?
-use the Buy it Now option?
-how do you figure out postage price?
-do you pick or does ebay pick the length of the auction?
-how do you come up with the starting price? by checking out other listings?
Thanks in advance if you are able to answer any of my questions. I don't know anyone else that sells there and I have been wanting to try it out.
Re: **Goldie** NMR: ebay question
-add a Reserve price? I don't use reserve prices b/c it costs more and as a bidder I find it annoying- if you have a price in mind you want to make for sure- then start the auction at that price so everyone knows the cost - reserve prices are hidden and to me, that is annoying.
-use the Buy it Now option? I don't use it - i figure it's worth what people will bid on it for - and again- it costs more to do that - so i don't bother.
-how do you figure out postage price? i have a general knowledge of how much things cost to ship- you can always box up and get priced at the post office before listing - i usually guess - sometimes I guess wrong and end up having to pay more myself - but that's rare. you can find prices online, too. Or you can do a flat rate box - if things fit into that box it's the same price no matter what the weight or zip code. I always sell UPSP priority mail b/c the boxes are free and you can print out shipping labels online via paypal.
-do you pick or does ebay pick the length of the auction? You can pick - i usually pick 7 days.... enough time for people to see it and bid on it... and doesn't cost more from ebay.
-how do you come up with the starting price? by checking out other listings? I did all .99c starting prices last time because they were free to list that way - not sure if that is still going on - otherwise I'd start it at the lowest price I'd be willing to sell for. With the .99c start you risk selling things for .99 - which did happen to a couple of my auctions- but i didn't care - was glad someone got a good deal - i still made over $200 on my auctions in total.
