trying for number 2?

I have a happy, healthy DD who is 8 1/2 months old.  Took 20 months and 2 IUIs to get there, Male factor infertility.  When should we start trying for #2? By trying I mean going to the fertility clinic.  I am off bc because we don't seem to need it, but also haven't had my first PP AF yet (I'm breastfeeding).  I'm not in a rush--I don't really want 2under2, but I don't want to wait too long since I turn 32 in July.

How long did it take to get your second BFP? Did you need IF treatments for both?

We just found out we're pregnant with #2 with no help after needing IVF w/ ICSI for #1.  I know that's not the norm though.  I'd give it 6 or so months on your own before going to the RE if you're not in a huge rush.  Good luck!!

We are TTC #2 right now - FET is tomorrow in fact!  I had a good idea I wouldn't be one of those stories where I would get pg no problem after #1 because my problem is high FSH which just gets worse, not better.  Our RE said we needed to try as soon as possible since my time is running out.  Yikes!

We started trying with my first PP AF.  We used charting and OPKs for 4 cycles before going back to the RE (DD was 9 months at the time).  We cycled when she was 11 months and got a BFP around her first birthday.

We are trying for #2 currently.  I bf for 15.5 months and didnt' have my first PP AF until DD was 15 months, so I couldn't have gotten pg before then (which I was fine with).  I was not in a hurry to get pg again quickly.  I wanted to enjoy DD as much as possible and BF was very important to me so I wasn't going to wean just to get pg.  Since I have stopped BF, we weren't really trying but not preventing.  Starting last cycle, we have been trying.  Nothing yet.  We will probably go another cycle or 2 before we head back to the RE.  I would prefer my children to be 2 years apart in school so we have a little time and I reacted well to the drugs at the RE office.

I did want 2u2, so we went back to the RE quickly. DS1 was 4.5 months old when we went back. I was FF and had no reason not to get a pp AF, but wasnt getting one (which wasnt a surprise...our issue was my PCOS and lack of ovulation). With DS1 we got pregnant using injects/trigger/b2b IUI. So for DS2 we went back to the same thing that worked with #1. It took two cycles to get pregnant with DS2.

But if you want to try on your own for a little bit, and dont really want 2u2 then I would just "see what happens" right now. If you get pregnant, then great! If not, when you feel really ready to get pregnant again then call your RE. You could always say, we will try on our own for X months and if we arent pregnant we will call the RE then.
