Apparently, I will never grow out of being a science geek.
I went to Michael's (craft store) to look for something to use for a birthday banner for DD's party this weekend. I ended up buying a three paneled stand up display, just like you used to use for the science fair! When I showed DH and told him my plan, he asked "And we'll put the volcano in front?"
I'm actually kind of excited about it. I plan to paint "Happy First Birthday Stella" on the center piece, and then attach her birth and month photos to the two side pieces (six on each side). I am hoping to take pics of Stella with each of her grandparents next to it.
The display is made of corrugated cardboard and is already colored yellow (they had red, blue, white, and black as well). It was only $5, so this project is going to cost me less than $10 total (I bought a bottle of paint, a sponge brush, and will print the photos at home.)
Am I crazy, or will it be cute?
Re: first birthday project
Not crazy! Sounds like a fun project! For Pumpkin's first birthday I put pictures of her, like a timeline going down the buffet table. I put them in placecard holders all different designs and at different heights. It was sort of the same idea, but you can keep yours forever. Mine was disassembled right after the party.
The placecard holders looked something like this. Well, not the same design, but they all had the "swirly top" to hold the pictures.
I bet it is going to be great! I would have never thought to do anything like that and I may steal your idea (heeheeeee)! Please post pics once it is done.
I am totally a craft-type person. That sounds awesome!!
