Infertility

Some good news....my dear friend/coworker had her twins today

She's not a bumpie but she's been in the IF boat (history of ectopics and mc's). At about 5:30 this morning at around 29.5 weeks, she had a boy and a girlBig Smile It's been a long, tough road for her, but she made it.

She is my greatest support in my IF struggle since I took this job last fall. I didn't plan on it, but after we became friends and she was asking me about my life (in a good way) I sort of let the IF cat out of the bag to her. She was a sweetheart and got me set up with the right doctor after I'd been to the wrong one. If you knew her, you'd love her.

So....a toast to my friend!Drinks

Oh, yes indeed they are. Anytime chocolate can be included in something, it should be.

BTW, let me clarify my post: She's been my greatest support IRL...I didn't mean to minimize the amazing support of this board.

  • Oh, that's really early :(. I hope they're doing ok and she's not in too much shock.

The babies are doing pretty well, actually. My friend is still having pain from the epidural but she said she's glad they're here. She was nervous as hell in the first tri, but she's been pretty calm ever since.

She started labor on Friday and they stopped it over the weekend. I didn't get to talk to her long enough to know why they they decided to deliver this morning, but they're stable. Only one is on a ventilator; my friend's mom said it was just a precaution because she's been breathing on her own before but just struggling a little. Someone  at work said my friend was actually further along then they initially thought.

A side note: my twin nephews were born at 30 weeks and never had to go on vents. I remember being told that 30 weeks is usually enough for lung development. They're 12 year old hellions nowStick out tongue

  • I'm glad they're doing well. She's still got to be in for at least a month in the NICU. I've got two friends who has preemies around then and they both ended up with PTSD from the NICU time (actually kind of common with NICU moms). It's tough stuff. I'm glad they're stable, bit she's still got a long road ahead.
