I think I have complained about my neighbor girl before. She is the one that walked in the house after Timm was getting out of the shower and she didn't even knock. I feel terrible for her. Her mom is in jail. Her grandma has a house in Costa Rica and clearly doesn't want to be here raising her grandchildren. Her dad is a dead beat and is never around.
So today is her birthday. She has come over here twice wearing a blue princess dress with a balloon. I knew her birthday was today. I offered her a birthday cookie and let her play with the dogs.
She just came back over and said, "so you think you can throw me a birthday party next weekend? I would really like it."
It makes me so sad. That means grandma isn't doing anything for her birthday. She's 7 years old today and there's no birthday plans in sight.
Re: The Poor Girl Next Door

I was thinking about this. We could do something little. Cake, a party hat, and candles. A little gift. I am going to Target tomorrow. I am going to see what I can find. It is such a huge bummer. Had I known that her grandma wasn't going to do anything for her, I would have already had a plan.
I feel bad that it will be late but better late than never, I guess. We can make it a surprise! You thought we forgot your birthday party! party.
That is so sweet, Ashley. I am sure she'll never forget her 7th birthday thanks to you and Timm. And, shame on that grandma for treating her granddaughter like that. Just b/c your daughter is a loser, don't take it out on the little girl! Ugh!
Agreed! Let us know how it turns out.
I ache for this sweet child- what fuc&tards those people are!!!
You, Ashley- are a doll to plan a surprise! She will be touched! Maybe even make a simple meal like grill hot dogs or burgers? Or buy some dough and do a make your own pizza? end with cupcakes or ice cream sundaes? I'm sure any gesture would mean so much..

That is so sad! I don't care if the grandmother wants to be raising kids or not, be nice to the poor child!
And you are fabulous for being so kind to her!
Hmmmm, I don't know. I doubt it. But grandma does weird stuff. I would think that she would have had her ask me a couple days ago and not on her birthday. Unless she wanted it to be more sad. I don't know.
Sadly, I think they already do. I swear grandma sends her over here to play with the dogs all the time so she can get a break. My issue is she needs constant supervision. My dogs are well trained but ball stupid, where you throw the ball, they will go.
They should be moving soon, their house is for sale.
