I heard the name Taft the other day and loved it for a boy with our middle name choice, Evans. I had never heard that name up until the other day. My husband and I like it alot but I'm not sure if I love it because of how different it is or if we just love it. I need opinioins please! Thanks!
Re: WDYT: Taft
Personally, hate. But at least it's not cutesy. And no one will mispronounce it.
Well I guess it would be a logical step in the Presidential naming phase...
NMS and IMO it does not work with Evans at all, the kid is going to have 3 last names and no firsts...
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

While William Howard Taft should be famous for being the only POTUS to also serve as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, he is mostly famous for being fat.
Pray that your child's schoolmates never discover his 1908 campaign song, "Get on a Raft With Taft."

I think its great.. original without being too out there. Strong male name...
I love this response.
Abraham Arthur 2/21/10 // Asher Kendall 11/11/11
Yeah, a really big big president. And not exactly a stellar one, either.
Tate is fairly similar and not all that overused.
I wouldn't personally choose it - 1) it is too close to "daft" for me and 2) The president was rather large.
I really like it! It sounds nice, is easy to spell/pronounce, and is not something that would be turned into a nickname. I think it would be adorable on a little boy, and would grow well into adulthood.
Just add it to the presedential surname list... Carter, Reagan, Kennedy, Truman, Jackson, Madison, Harrison, Taylor, Grant, Arthur, Ford.... Now we have Taft.
FWIW, some of those names are fine and don't even ring "presidential" when I hear them. But Taft goes a little too far and is NMS.
I think this:
This.

Personally, NMS . . . and I can remember playing a game in school in about the fourth grade, where we were given weird facts, one for each president of the United States and had to identify said president by researching those facts--the fact for Taft? He wore a bigger hat than any other President. Still remember it today. Remember it and his giant head. And, sadly, that's what I think of when I think about you naming a baby Taft--a baby with a giant head.
This. I immediately thought of the President. To me this is not a last name that transitions well into a fisrt name.
Hahahahahaha!
Taft = Fat + T = Fatty
Good luck!
Thanks for not DDing, so I could actually see this gem, instead of only hearing about it later!
