We had an interior designer help us decorate our place last year, and I LOVE it. There is a bit of a major detail that isn't done though. Above the sofa (somewhat long 3-cushion sofa), there is absolutely nothing, and it looks like a big hole. I tried to find some artwork... discovered that a good friend of mine is living in NYC as an artist, so I bought some of his stuff, but it is all on the smaller side, so it wouldn't fit there.
I'd love to find some interesting art rather than throw something up there out of a catalog since it really is a focal point in the room; however, at this point, I've even started looking on all home decor sites (west elm, Pottery Barn, etc.) and haven't found anything I like enough to put up there.
Any suggestions? TIA!
Re: Wall Decor / Art Suggestions
Check out this website. They do art, mirrors, and some lighting & accessories. You can call the company & see if anyone in your area carries the line. If not I can order for you & have the piece drop shipped to your house.

I have picked up some pieces from art festivals. Usually, these artists are still fairly new and willing to negotiate on price.
I have a two pieces from Tracey Lewis

but her prices have gone up since I bought my pieces are few years ago.
We don't have anything above our couch because it is in the middle of the room but I got the majority of our wall decor (above the fire place, our bed, in the hallways, in the front guest rom) at Kirkland's. They have some really nice stuff and usually have some really good sales going on, too.

I have 2 big framed prints behind my couch but I love look of a cluster of framed art, I dont even think the frames have to match they just have to work together. That would be great if you could use your friends art along with some other great pieces.
I love this design blog www.patriciagray.blogspot.com She has some examples posted on there, I like the one if you scroll way down on the right. Its a picture of a group of art going up a staircase.
Whoops! Its www.patriciagrayinc.blogspot.com
I couldn't get the link to work. I would love to see the staircase art.
This reminds me that my RE's office is decorated all from Hobby Lobby. I happen to have one of the same items in my bathroom that they have in their office. The office looks like the bought everything from Hobby Lobby.
It's a mix of beiges, browns, deep red and green. We have a red oriental rug, and some red and beige/green throw pillows. We have a red side table from Pottery Barn. I'm trying to find a pic and haven't had any luck.
