IUI#1, no period & BFN...?

Hi girls,

I had IUI#1 18 days ago. 10 days after I had some dark spotting that lasted about 3 days. I never got a period, or what I would consider a normal period. But I have had two BFNs. Anyone know why I wouldn't have gotten a normal period if I'm not pregnant?

dx: hypothalamic ammenorhea & MFI. TTC #1 since 7/09.12/09: DH had varicocele surgery. 5/10-8/10: IUI + Clomid #1-4 BFN, 9/10: IUI #5 + Clomid: BFP!!! Tyler Liam 6/3/11 7 lbs. 2 oz. 20 in. :) TTC #2 since 11/12. IUI + Clomid #1-2 Clomid: BFN, new RE: IUI + injectibles: BFN. Onto IVF#1 Antagonist: July '13: Estrogen, Provera, Menopur/Gonal/Cetrotide; ER 8/6: 8 eggs, 6 mature, 5 fert. with ICSI; 5D SET 8/11: BFN :( FET 2 embryos scheduled 9/13: BFP!!! 10/13: 2 heartbeats! Twin boys due 6/1/14!

    My first clomid/IUI LP was 15 days long and my second was 16.  It's possible you ovulated a day after the IUI putting you at 17 dpo, but that is still really long.  I would call your dr for a blood test.

    Did you have a beta to confirm that you weren't pregnant? 

    Were you taking progesterone after the IUI?  Progesterone can sometimes delay AF.

    Did you have a negative beta test? Have you talked to your RE and told him you haven't gotten your AF yet?
    A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
    After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
    My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

    I'm waiting on a call back from RE, so figured I'd check in here to see if anyone else had this experience before. I assume they'll have me come in for bloodwork. I was not taking progesterone this cycle.

    I agree with all about the beta.  Might be the best way to know, and while there ask your nurse :)  GL-- hope it works out!
