TTC after 35

Next question

OK, so pricing it out and the answers you ladies provided seem to suggest OPKs are the way to go since I have a short window to work in.......next question:

It's been over 5 yrs since I opk'd. When I was doing it, I never got the darker line (I used the answer brand). I would get the faint line, then a little darker, but never darker than the test line. We would bd as it got darker and I got pg 3 times doing this (1 missed mc and 2 cps), so I was timing it fairly well. Any recommendations on how to time the opks a little better? They may have improved in the past 1/2 decade (that's a sad statement).......Thanks ladies and OMG I sound like a newbie, HA!

Re: Next question

  • It sounds like whatever you were doing before worked...sperm met egg!  But I personally hate the line OPK's...I can never read them right.  So I use the CBE digital...little pricey so I just confirm with them after using the ones that make me crazy  :)

  • I have been using the strips with lines as you suggest and the digital (bought off ebay cheap) to confirm if needed. I got sick of the stupid line I could not read!!! HOwever I could use both to test more than once in a day. I dont know if it makes sense but it satisfies my insanity on it

My RE recommends the digital CBE ones - there's no interpretting the lines, just a smiley face or not. Unfortunately they are pricey too.

Absolutely - I'm using my CBEFM until I get a high day b/c I already have it but same idea - use cheap OPKs until you start getting a dark line and then confirm with the digital.

  • I've never used the CBE but I've use the OPK's a lot.  I'm taking this cycle off and possibly the next one.  TTC is driving me a little nuts so I thought I'd give my DH and myself a break.  Maybe when I start back TTC then i will invest in a digital CBE
