What am I missing for babies 1st b-day?

I have ordered some decor, invite, cake, shirt (just because it was cute), and food is going to be prepared. His party is not until the 31st, but this is my first time to host a party. Do I need to have an activity for the kids. There will be 10 kids invited, . We are just doing simple, imitate family and close friends. On the invite I planned it for 2 hours, hoping it will last less than that.

Is there a party blog to check out?

You could do treat bags for the kids, if you want. We had mostly kids DS's age, so I just did little bathtub squirters in clear bags.

That's what I can't decide on. I was going to do plastic balls and bats since it's a baseball party. The kids range in age 1 year to 8 years.

We just had DDs party today. We did little books in the baby's gift bags. We planned for 2 1/2 hours and it still ran over. I felt like we were running the whole time, so under 2 hours may be hard. Also, we had bought DD a little playset (slide and baby swing) and a water table for her bday and went ahead and set those up in the yard. That served well to entertain the little ones for a while, esp the water table, it was a major hit.

Someone gave us one of those large balloons that have feet and arms.  It kind of "walks" around because of the weights at the bottom of the feet. Anyway, that balloon provided hours of entertainment for all the kids at the party.  They loved punching it, pulling it and tossing it to each other.  Of all the toys and activities we had planned, that balloon was the biggest hit.  

Also, just the regular toys you have around the house will occupy most of the guest kids, as the toys will be new to them and they will want to play with them.  

 And, I agree, ours lastest over 3 hours.  I couldn't imagine it being done in less than two unless as soon as everyone was there you started to feed them and do the cake and presents.

I think I also alotted 2 hours.  While most of the guests departed, friends of DH just wanted to stay until nightfall, it seemed.  It was exhausting!!

We had kids ranging from 1 (DS) - 11.  It was a Rubber Ducky theme and I made rubber duck sugar cookies with colored marshmallow fondant to resemble a duck.  I put them in cute duck cellophane bags and favors were done!  You could always do a baseball cookie - just use white fondant and red licorice strings for effect.

DS had a ball pit which I put away b/c I was afraid some of the older kids would jump on it and break it. Instead I bought a $10 kiddie pool and threw the balls in there. The kids had a blast playing with it during the party.

Make sure you designate a "picture taker" I didnt and we didnt get a lot of good photos and hardly any video.

We had a wonderland themed party and used their take away gifts as part of our decor.  They were colorful pinwheels that the kids could take with them when they left.
