pooping pattern change around 8 weeks?

Help me out moms!

Our LO has consistently had one BM diaper a day for weeks. Every now and then he would have a 2nd BM diaper in the day. He is on Similac Sensitive and Mylicon with almost every bottle. He seemed to be on a pretty good pattern.

Well, on Thursday, he had 3 BM diapers and yesterday he had 5-6!! I took him to the pedi yesterday afternoon. She said that she isn't concerned with the frequency because his system is really working and changing about now. The consistency of his diapers are different now too. They're a little more sticky and mucousy. She wasn't 100% bothered by that either, but she said it could be in line with a milk intolerance/allergy. I have wondered about an allergy for awhile because his gassiness hasn't gotten tons better on the Sensitve.

However, he doesn't seem to be nearly as gassy now. Of course, that could be because he is pooping so often.

She gave me samples of Similac's hypoallergenic formula and said I could start it in the next couple days if things hadn't improved.

So, did your LO go through a pattern change around 8 weeks? If so, did it get back in line with what he/she was doing before and how long did it take to get back to the old normal or did this become the new normal?

Katie's would go about 4-5 times a day and around that age it did change but it went the opposite way.  She would go days without pooping and then have an explosion.  I think it is common for their habits to change but I would watch out the with mucousy poops.

I remember my little girl's poop cycle changing around 6-8 weeks, and according to some of the baby books I was reading, it's just their digestive system growing and getting stronger.  Like PhillySue said, I'd watch out for the mucousy poop, but I remember my daughter would have that occasionally and it didn't seem to be a problem.  Hope that helps!

is it sad that I already can't remember what they were doing at 8 weeks?!?

Zoey has been pooping less frequently for the last few weeks, while the other two poop at almost every diaper change. We go through a lot of diapers around here!
