TTC after 35

accupuncture?

there's a accupuncture center in my area that specializes in treating fertility issues.  i've made an initial appt for next month. all of the studies i've read show that accupuncture can be beneficial.

has anyone gone this route?  if so, what did you think?

Re: accupuncture?

  • I truly believe that acupuncture is what helped me conceive my DD.  We tried for 3 years to have a baby and I was PG after 6 weeks of acupuncture. Naturally too (without the IUI's) that we had been doing to achieve a pregnancy before taking a break and starting acupuncture.  So I'm not sure if it was finally my time or not but I think it was the acupuncture.  GL it was so relaxing for me to have a scheduled nap 3 times a week!!!!!

  • I don't think acu makes much of a difference one way or the other as far as helping with fertility to be honest. I did do it for about a month and it didn't relax me at all, but i also hate needles so that may have been why i didn't enjoy it. The only reason I did it was because i was so desperate to get prego that i was willing to try anything and it was the last thing i did before going to fertility meds. I did actually wind up getting prego naturally during the month I did acu but had a miscarriage. It was my 2nd natural miscarriage. I then went to an RE and had DD #1 via my first IVF (took us 2 years till her successful conception). And I just had DD #2 a month ago - conceived naturally with no pills, acu, etc.
  • I do acupuncture... I think there are pros and cons :)

Pros, is that ive never felt so relaxed, i got a decent amt. of eggs on my last ER, and I really followed the diet advice that my practictioner gave me. I felt like I did everything I could to try and make it work (it didnt), but I felt like I could lay there and visualize during the sessions too.

Cons, the price!! At $90 a session, it really takes a toll, esp. when you are going weekly, or at times i went 2x a week!

I say give it a try! The more you have to believe in, the better! If that makes any sense! :)?

  • I am a huge believer in acupuncture! My 1st ivf was cancelled due to low follicles numbers. 2nd time round did acupuncture and my follicles numbers more than doubled. I find that it relaxes my and levels out my emotions!!

thanks for sharing!  i have my first accupuncture appt scheduled for wednesday, july 7th, 3 days after we get back from a vacation in the outer banks :)

i'm thinking about scheduling our first appt with shady grove fertility clinic as well.  as much as i'd like to get pregnant w/out meds and invasive procedures, i just don't think it's in the cards for me.

btw, my siggy pics are my fav pics from our wedding.  thanks for noticing!

    your daughter is sooo adorable.
