DH Vent

The last two nights in a row, DS has slept only in 2 hour increments and wakes up crying each time. He's cutting a second tooth and I'm convinced this is the culprit.

Wednesday night I gave up after being up with him repeatedly and brought him downstairs to the sofa so DH could continue sleeping as he had to work in the AM. Then last night (Thursday) DS woke once before I even got to bed with a blood curdling scream. I ran upstairs and he was grabbing his gums and an absolute mess so I brought him back down with me and nursed him quietly until I was certain he was fast asleep. Then I went ahead and went to bed myself when I took him back up.

DH continued to stay up as late as he normally does...1 or 2am -- I don't really recall because I was already asleep. DS proceeds to wake once at 2:30 so I nursed him and he went back down. Again he woke at 4:30 so I nursed briefly and put him back down. The third time he woke crying about an hour later so I took him downstairs.

DH comes down this morning while he's getting ready for work and complains he didn't get much sleep because DS woke him just before 6am and didn't understand why it took me so long to decide to take him downstairs -- when in reality, I heard him cry and immediately got him out of his cot and took him downstairs. I explained this to DH and he said I could have gotten him out of the room faster.

WTF?!

I suggested DH come to bed at a more reasonable hour anyway and he wouldn't have the opportunity to have as much missed sleep but he claimed he was waiting to use the PC (that I was on). Mind you, he never once mentioned having to use it and I went to bed with DS right after we finished watching a film...so it's not as though I was keeping him from it.

Anyway, I guess I'm just babbling. I don't understand how he can be so whiney when I'm the one only allowed to sleep 2 hours at a time before being woken up. I appreciate he has to work, but that again comes down to him waiting until it's late to even come to bed -- which he will give a MILLION excuses for.

Grr...let's just say I look forward to him GOING to work sometimes.

::sigh::

  • grr! I never realized how much EASIER it is to go to work than be a SAHM until I returned to work from maternity leave. Well some people probably have more physically tiring jobs than I do, but being home with baby is still a ton of work! Has DH spent the whole day with LO alone yet? Maybe if he has a chance to appreciate all the work you do, he will understand why you need sleep too!
