Good OB/GYN in Wichita

We have just moved to Wichita and I am 6 months pregnant with my first and needing to find a great OB ASAP. Any suggestions of who is great and what exactly you loved about them? Were the office visits great? Good nurses? Were they able to deliver your baby (and not an on-call dr.)? Were they supportive of your labor and delivery choices? Were they good to check on you during labor?

I don't have an answer, but I do share in your inquiry!  I would also add that I'm looking for a good OB/GYN to work with us while we continue TTC as well as names of fertility specialists anyone has worked with.

I had the same question about 5 months ago. I had a terrible OB and wanted to switch mid pregnancy.  I am now seeing Dr. Victoria Kindel and love her.  She has great feedback from her patients when you search her online.  She takes her time during my OB appts and does a great job at not making it seem like she is in a rush.  She has been very informative about two conditions with my preganancy and really brings it down to laymens terms.  Her office gets you in quickly and does not make you wait long.  Her office is right next door to Wesley and the Birthcare center.  I am also very impressed that she is supportive of my choice to have a fully natural birth, not all doctors are.  I would highly recommend her!

I'm so glad someone posted this, I'm actually 3 1/2 hours away from Wichita and have to deliver down there.  We were under the impression that our specialist we'd been seeing would deliver us but she doesn't do the l&d portion.  So.....here I am 31 weeks and won't meet with an ob until about 35 or 36 weeks after we see a pediatric surgeon so it's nice to have some insight!

I saw Melissa Hauge of Heartlands Women Health for the first 5 months. I left just because I moved. She is very informative and cares about your health and of couse the babies. I have a heart condition and she works closely with KU med doctors also so she has a lot of fellow doctors to fall on if you have anything go wrong.

I was referred to  Dr DePew (since my Gyno doesnt do babies).. He and his nurses were great through my MC,  I had a lot of Complications after the D&C. Now we are pg again, and still going to use DePew. :)

I have not had my baby yet, but I have been happy so far with Dr. Karen Strecker. She is in a practice on the east side of Wichita. She has been pretty supportive of my choices. Another poster mentioned Dr. Amy Short, who is in the same practice as Dr. Strecker, and although I've only met Dr. Short briefly she seems very personable and pleasant.

I seen Dr. Strecker for the first few months of my last pregnancy, only stopped because we moved to Dodge....I really liked her!

Now I live in Newton and have another new OB/GYN.

Thank You for all the suggestions! My husband has a co-worker whose wife is one of the ultrasound tech's at Dr. Kindel's office. I asked for her recommendations at that practice and she highly recommended Dr. Kindle. I have had 4 appts with her so far and LOVE HER! She was warm and personable, ready and willing to answer questions and explain procedures. She will give me a heads up about things I need to be thinking about or preparing for (i.e. a pediatrician, blood tests, birth plans) and doesn't wait for me to bring everything up, which I appreciate with my first pregnancy because sometimes I don't know what questions to ask when. She has been great and I would highly recommend her. Hopefully all goes well with l&d and it continues to be a positive experience.
