***This got long. Thanks for reading. It felt good to type it all out!***
We have been going to an in-home DCP for 2 years. Next school year, the big kids are going to pre-K and K so Katie will be the oldest. The other kids are 18 mos and a newborn. I don't think that's ideal for Katie socially.
So I called different preschools and only 2 take 2 year olds. Blah.
#1. Not good at all. Maybe ok for 3 y/o but the 2 y/o program was blah- the room was tiny, broken toys, etc and we were so disappointed.
#2. Super private school that goes preK 2- 5th grade. Great recommendation from a friend. LOVED the place. It was a fantastic set-up, wonderful teachers, and I am so happy they have chapel.
BUT their hours are the exact hours we have to be at school. And they;re are 15 mins away from school so there is no chance we can be late 15 mins to school everyday.
TODAY I get a call from the director that she gets there early and Katie can hang with her for 15 mins every morning!
So, we will just barely get to school on time everyday and will have to leave right when we're allowed (DH and I carpool) but it may workout.
WDYT?
Re: F/U to stressed about school for Katie...finally good news!
#2, for sure.
With #1, you already know you're unimpressed. There are time issues with #2, but you'll hopefully find a way to work it out.
22222!!!
You can make it work. We made an insane schedule work this year -- not only was it worth it - we actually have ended up really liking it!
This is great news, Stacie. I'm really happy for you guys.
I'm so happy you found somplace that you like!
the time issue would give me pause though (not to be a downer!). The stress of having to get Katie to/from school and yourself to/from school on time would wreck me.
My current job is very strict on getting to work on time, and I was always speeding down the road trying to drop off Olivia on time and get to work. Of course, the days that she had to go potty while we were halfway to school, days she needed more love at drop off, etc. sucked and I had to deal with my boss.
Do you have someone that you could work with that could be your pick up person - maybe a high school/college student that could pick up Katie and watch her for 30 minutes until you get home?
DH is opposed to having someone help us with that because then we're back in the in-home dcp rut of dealing with someone else's sickness, running late, etc.
