Bleeding after an exam?

This is normal right? I am 6 weeks and I had my first OB appt yesterday where she did a vaginal exam.  This morning I had some heavy red spotting which quickly turned brown but has continued as light spotting.  I know that she could have irritated my cervix but would it have taken until today to bleed?

I had some spotting at 4 weeks also but I'm trying to stay calm and rational.  My ultrasound isnt until next Thursday and there is nothing I can do until then but breathe.  It is difficult to be a "normal" pregnant person!  I want betas and weekly ultrasounds!

  • yep, normal. I just had a pap and internal exam yesterday  (I'm 11 weeks) and I saw that the ob's glove (TMI alert) was covered in bright red blood and I was like,"WHAT'S THAT??!"

He told me it was totally normal. When you're pregnant, your blood volume increases and there's just a lot more blood flowing through your cervix. He said the blood is from the pap smear and the cervix getting irritated by it and not from the baby/uterus. He said not to worry if I saw brown spotting for a day or two. He said to only worry if I got a full blown period-like bleeding.
