Ok so Austin wont technically be an infant, he will be a little over a year old. In August we are traveling to the DR for a week with Austin and I am a little concerned about what he will eat.
He is on formula now but I was hoping to have him on milk by the time he is 1. Now my question is, should I keep him on formula until after our trip or hope that our hotel has milk whenever we need it.
I am also a little concerned about using the water over there to make his formula. Will the bottle water be fine?
I am planning on bringing most of his food, since I dont want to risk him getting sick by eating food that might not agree with him.
Any advice?? Sorry this post is so scattered.
Re: International Travel with an Infant ???
You may not be allowed to bring any fresh foods with you. I don't know how it is going into DR, but coming into the US they don't let you bring fruits/veggies/plants/etc. I don't know what the policy would be on prepared foods, though. You could use bottled water for formula. Could you call ahead and see if milk will be available at the resort?
Nicole, you should be fine with him drinking bottled water. Take his baby food if you would like. As for the milk, I know that in mexico they have formula for toddlers (1 YR+) It's like powdered milk with extra vitamins.
I found it. You should be able to take it in checked baggage.
Enfamil also makes a formula for toddlers. https://www.enfamil.com/app/iwp/enfamil/productDetail.do?id=/Consumer_Home2/Enf_Products/ForToddlers/EnfagrowPREMIUM&cm_mmc=paid%20search-_-Enfagrow-_-Google-_-Expert2010
When I asked the pedi about the Enfagrow vs. formula vs. milk he said that the Enfagrow is supposed to be a little easier to digest than cow's milk and it had extra stuff (vitamins, etc.) so if you have a picky eater then you can make sure they're getting everything they need.
