So, we're gearing up for Greece - we leave in exactly 3 weeks
I'm suddenly faced with dealing with what the heck is Mari supposed to sleep in question...
I just found out the "hotel" (my friend's family's rental place) doesn't have any cribs. I thought about bringing her bassinette, but it's just not practical. I have a Pack and Play that we haven't even taken out of the box yet, and it comes with a changing table and basinete on top, but from what I read, you can't like fold up the basinette or the changer to make it more compact - it's only the actually play-pen part that is portable.
So, what would you do? We'll be gone for at least 4 weeks - I say at least because even if Peter comes home, I might stay with his family in Nafpaktos for an extra week or two.
Do you think just the play pen would work?
Any of you travel w/LO for an extended period of time? Any advice?
Re: What am I supposed to pack for Mari to sleep in?
Really, your PNP does not have a folding bassinett? Ok, ok, maybe it doesn't....I'd say just put her in the PNP, she'll be fine!
When we went on vacation a couple weeks ago we took our Arm's Reach co-sleeper & I will be taking it again when I go to OH & IN in a few weeks. Then again when we go to Niagra Falls, on our cruise/FL & again to my mom's house for Christmas & TX adventures for the year.
HTH
Does it??? Hmm... I probably should take it out of the box, eh?
It's THIS one.

My advice, open the PNP, and start putting her in there so she could kind of get used to it, and also, so that it starts smelling more like your home and not the brand new smell. I read somewhere that when you're away, kids like the smell of home.
Just my thought, GL
With the PNP the 'bassinet' is just a raised sleeping surface. So she'd be sleeping at the top level instead of on the bottom.
If you're looking for something lighter, I'd recommend the Fisher Price Rock and Play sleeper. It weighs less than 5lbs and folds flat:

Ok, so lemme ask you... the bottom of the pack and play looks exactly like the bottom of the co-sleeper - is that what I'm sleeping her in? You don't think it's too deep?

What about the top level of the PNP?
THAT looks like a good option! I think I'd be able to put that right in her suitcase. Dumb question... it's ok that she sleeps kind of upright like that, right?
And Alex - great idea, thanks!

I've taken Nathan everywhere under the sun it seems (and taking him to Madrid next week), and most "hotels" have had the baby cribs - which in Europe are essentially just the play pen area of the pack N' Play, that they line with a blanket, so - if your pack N' play is portable, you can do without the bassinet and changing table.
We did stay in one hotel that did not provide a baby crib - but rather a twin size bed (seriously). Lukily for us, we had the sleep positioner that we put on the bed so he didn't fall of the bed. He didn't even notice and was fine. So, also if you don't want to travel with the Pack N' Play, you can always take a sleep positioner and have her sleep in a normal bed.
Let me know if I can be any more help. We have been travelling all over Europe with Nathan since he was a little over 2 months old.
It doesn't fold enough... I'd have to pack that part in the suitcase. It doesn't make sense to have somethign take up room in the suitcase AND have to check something... KWIM?

I have that pack and play Cris.....You can not bring the changing table....but It will not be too deep as long as you leave the cushion on the top.(that is what they call the bassinett so to speak... There is a net you can put on the top and the cushion part sits right into it, that will be perfect for her...But IMO, I would open it up and put it together and let her get use to it before you go....
That's good to know! So it wouldn't have made a difference if I just pack the PnP or if she would have gotten a crib there.
Ok, problem solved.
I'm going to do exactly what you guys said. I'm going to make P set it up today and try to get her sleeping in it so she gets used to it.
Let's hope this doesn't end our glorious 9+ hour sleeping nights!

What about this?
It looks nice and small and says that it folds compact for travel...
OOOHHH!!!! That looks more snug - like what she's used to! I wonder, though, is that to put, like, in bed with me?

That looks great. IT looks like it could go in bed with you or on any other surface.
In regards to the rock and play sleeper, it keeps them up on a slight incline, kind of like a bouncy seat, and is fine for sleeping. A lot of reflux babies use it, I see it mentioned on 0-3 all the time. People like that you can rock it as well.
Yes, I found it by searching "family bed" in BRU. I would say it could go in the bed between you guys or on the floor maybe. I was actually looking for something else that I have seen that is also a co-sleeping situation (more like just bumpers for sleeping between you guys), but this looks great!
I'm not sure how much time you have until your trip, but be careful with JET LAG! If at all possible try to get Mari up a little earlier than usual every day, and get her to bed earlier. Otherwise she will be awake all night on European time and sleeping through the day.
If you don't want to risk the 9 glorious hours (I know that once you get to STTN you don't want to jinx it) try putting her in the PNP for naps and letting her get used to it slowly.

When I traveled with Mya, I had something like this. I brought it everywhere with me. To hotels, parties, the beach, etc.
