I'm on Amazon trying to find a Bradley book (we can't do classes for several reasons) and I'm wondering which one others have used. I've found several, but these two below look closest to what I want.
Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way by Susan McCutcheon
Husband Coached Childbirth by Robert Bradley
Thanks!
Re: Which Bradley book?
Thanks! We read Ina May last time, and I thought it was an awesome "psych you up" book, but it didn't offer tons of practical info. I'll probably read her again in a few months just for the inspiration
We read Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way by Susan McCutcheon, but we did not take a Bradley class (and also haven't given birth yet, as you can tell by my ticker).
I have heard that the Husband Coached Childbirth is better if you are taking the class, and Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way is better for someone who is not taking the class.
Hope this helps!
I'd go for the one not written by Bradley. I don't feel that there is more info in it, and it annoyed me. You can really tell how old Dr.Bradley was with how some of the gender stuff reads.
I took Bradley classes and read the book by Dr. Bradley as part of the class. I didn't end up having a Bradley birth. There were multiple reasons that went into that, but I do have to say that I felt the book glossed over what the pain was really like. It talked about women hugging their doctors right afterward, and the last thing I wanted to do was hug my doctor! LOL
The book was also pretty old-fashioned and VERY anti pain med, which I get is part of the Bradley method, but I felt the book took it a bit too far.
