Two Under 2

For 3 U 3. again!

What car seats do you have?

How are they arranged?

What kind of car?

I have a honda pilot.  We are 98% sure we will get the honda minivan.  But, in the mean time we are considering putting DD (2 yrs 4 months) and DS (1 yr 4 months) in the 3rd row and baby in the 2nd row.  Baby is due to arrive in August.

We have evenflo car seats so I feel they are semi-bulky and take up too much space in the 2nd row.  Plus, the 2nd row passenger side seat reclines and needs to remain accessible to get to the 3rd row.

  • I know I'm not 3u3, but I'll answer. We have all Britax seats.

DD#1 is in the 3rd row, DD#2 and DS are in the middle row each in a captain's chair.

We have a 2009 Honda Odyssey Touring.

  • We have a dodge caravan and have 3 seats in the back row (2 cosco sceneras and 1 britax decathlon). Then we have another britax in one of the captains chairs in the middle row. The other captains chair is stowed in the floor of the van which creates a lot of space for both the girls and I to get in/out and for buckling up, etc. Can you remove one if your captains chairs? It has worked out so well for us!

We thought about doing this, but then you can't fit anyone else in the car (which we want to do) and for me, it's a royal PITA to get in/out of the back row since my DD#1 can buckle herself in now.........

  • I hear you about wanting to fit another person in the car, Harriet. That's the great thing about the caravan. The seat is always there if you need it. You don't have to lug it from the garage. My girls still need help buckling, and definitely need me to unbuckle them, so this works really well. Makes it very spacious to lay a baby on the floor of the van for diaer changes too, or diaper blow-outs, as the case may be ;)

I do have to unbuckle too........ :-(

I don't have any diaper blow-outs (big advantage in using cloth diapers), but I can change DS anywhere.......

Although, when we go on vacation, we may change the seating to that way since we won't need the extra seat.

We looked at the Caravan and the T&C but we really loved the drive of the Honda more and their resale value......
