I came across the name "Pedar" at work today. We butchered it when calling him back to see the Doctor. We said Puh-Dar. It's supposed to be pronounced "Peter".
OK, I seriously LOL'd to Pedar. That pronunciation never even crossed my mind in the least. I immediately went to Pe-DAR. No way would I have gotten Peter from that.

Re: Two names I came across today
I've met a Pedar before. He was from Germany, but it's a Danish name I think. Not strange at all.
Xarius on the other hand sounds pretty made-up and very masculine for a little girl.
