Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Way over the 100 percentile?

Has anyone else's baby always been over the 100% in height and weight pretty much since birth? Everywhere I go people are shocked that Joanna is only 7 1/2 months old. She is in 2T clothes already! Where did my little baby go!!

(Check siggy for weight/height) She has put on over 16lbs since birth and over 10 inches, so hard to believe when I think of it that way...

Re: Way over the 100 percentile?

  • Hi. We're tall, but not that tall! You've got a good grower there!(And a cute one!)

From a mathematical standpoint, however, there is no such thing as over the 100th percentile. To explain why not, our daughter is at the 90th percentile for height. That means she is taller than 90 percent of babies her age. If your daughter were over the 100th percentile, it would mean that she was taller than over 100 percent of babies her age which is impossible.

  • I didn't even know you could go over 100%tile!  Your siggy pic is adorable though--Has the Dr told you to worry or anything?
  • Well the nurses always just say, there is no % like when people say my baby is in the 70th..blah blah. She is way over the growth chart, so over the 100 per say. She is the size of some 2 year olds.:) LOL

I am 6'0 tall and my DH is 6'3 and we were both big babies. Actually my mom was advised to take me to a specialist because of my size and he predicted me to be 6'2.:)

  • YES!!! DD was born 11lbs 7 oz and 22.5 inches long. She was born wearing 3 month clothing and has always been off the charts!
