Year olds birthday party???

I am wondering how many have been faced with this problem and what advice you have. My husband doesnt want a big to-do for my son's 1st birthday, i had originally been planning a big pool party but now that i'm into the pregnancy and still exhausted, AND realizing my husband's not gonna help because he's against it, should i feel bad about doing the mommy and daddy and son celebration. Just us at a cupcake or cake restaraunt? I mean the parties are really for the parents at this age right? HELP!

Re: Year olds birthday party???

  • We had to cancel DS's #1 because half our family had swine flu. The day was unseasonably warm - so we went to the zoo and had such a wonderful day, just the three of us. I baked him a smash cake and we all ate it and had a lot of fun. It was such a precious day.

We plan on doing a joint celebration this year for his #2 and DD's #1 (their b-days are a month and a half apart)...we'll probably go all out for this one. And yes - it's for the adults and other kids and for photos.

  • We did a small gathering and it was really nice!  Don't feel bad, just do what you can, they will not remember if you did a big bash or a small gathering.
