Hi ladies. So, I have been having my progesterone monitored this pregnancy b/c my new doctor believes it was an issue last time and possibly contributed to my loss (via a luteal phase defect in his words).
Anyway, I had a draw last Monday and progesterone was "just above 20". The nurse called this morning and my draw from yesterday came back at 13.4.
The nurse asked me if I had started spotting or bleeding. OBVIOUSLY this makes me believe that THEY believe I am going to have another miscarriage. I am at work and I'm crying at my desk b/c I believe they're right. They are calling in prometrium for me today and I am going to start it today, but is it too late???? Can anyone share a similar story??

I'll hold you in my heart until I hold you in heaven.
They said they aren't going to do another draw b/c of the supplements and it wouldn't be an accurate number...whatever that means, b/c I know plenty of ladies get their progesterone checked and they are on supplements as well. I have to wait until the ultrasound on the 28th, unless I start bleeding before then.

My progesterone at 5w was 16.3. Dr. gave me a prescription for prometrium but never talked about the benefits or negatives of it. I am very black and white when it comes to my health...meaning, tell me to either take it or don't take it. Dr. said something like, "take it if you have cramping." I didn't feel comfortable with that so I waited until my 7w appointment and had the nurse practicioner check it. At 7w4d my progesterone had dropped to 12 and she told me to start taking the prometrium immediately. I took it from 7w5d to 15w and just finished taking it. And, I had cramps for my whole pregnancy up until a few days ago. Baby is growing strong and I guess the cramps were he/she setteling in.
Good luck and I am sending positive thoughts your way. I don't think it is too late to start taking it.
This! The supplements should help. GL!
Our losses were due to low progesterone. It would start nice and high (with clomid) but would nose dive after a few days. My p4 on it's own is around 7...ob wants it at the very least 15+. We were on prometrium 200mg suppositories twice daily. Never had cramping or spotting...totally unlike our other pg. Started the prometrium on 3wk6days and weaned/stopped by 12wks and havent had any issues coming off of it.
eta: on prometrium our p4 started at 43 next check it was around 90.

Like everyone said, trying not to worry is a lot easier said then done. Mine dropped from 31 to 20 (within a week). I was put on progesterone after it dropped and it went back up to 32. Try to stay strong, when is your next draw to see if it's helping?
How are your betas? Are they on the up and up. Fingers crossed for your girl.
PS: I doubled up on the progesterone and took 400 mg at night before going to bed (oral)

That nurse is an @ss. Why won't they do betas for you? Or will that not make you feel better?
Big hugs sweetie.

Exactly this. The supplements will help. I have non-existant progesterone without them and the doc said that's most likely what caused my last loss. On oral supplements my progesterone shot up to 94. Good luck. ::hugs::
I can talk you down. I had the progesterone scare for the first 14 weeks of my pregnancy. No Joke.
At 13 DPO it was 17.
At 15 DPO it dropped to 13
The next two draws it dropped to 10 and then to 7. My doctor told me he was quite worried, but he had me on progesterone injections from my first draw. Here is how they give them: Anything over 15 gets 1 shot/week, between 10-15 gets 2 shots a week, anything below 10 gets 2 shots a week.
I was on three shots a week (I dont know how this will compare to Prometrium, but my doc says its all the same, no way is better than the other) for 12 of those 14 weeks. I got to 13 weeks and my levels raised to 20.2 and they had me do one more shot just in case, and at my final draw it was at 22.
So, just because your levels are dropping doesn't always mean you'll miscarry. My doctor told me that honestly he was worried something would happen, but he was also confident that being on the progesterone is what helped move my pregnancy along (though there's no way to ever know 100%).
It's not too late, try not to worry too much about it. I also ordered some Progesterone Cream called Her Balance. I will say that a lot of people said it wouldn't make a huge difference, and I didnt think it did... but it really helped ease my mind knowing that we were doing everything we could to get my levels up.
If you have any other questions, let me know!

This is not true. The supplements are SUPPLEMENTING what your body should be doing. So basically what your body produces that is low + what the supplements are giving should be as accurate as possible. It just means that's how much progesterone is in your body. That's what my doctor told me. I would fight for it, if you're concerned. Because if your levels drop even more even after you start the supplements, they can up your dosage. I would call them back and demand another draw, if it were me.
