Did You Feel One Baby More Than the Other?

Okay so I am having twins, fraternal, different sacs, different placentas.  Baby A is lower and on my right and Baby B is higher and on my left.  At first I felt Baby B a lot more and didn't feel Baby A that much.  Now I feel Baby A all the time (almost all day) and hardly feel Baby B.  I am also trying to figure out which is which when I feel it in my belly button.  Did anyone else experience this?

Re: Did You Feel One Baby More Than the Other?

  • I feel a lot more on my right side than my left and I thought that was one baby vs. the other, but when I asked my MFM about it, he said that some people are more sensitive on one side. Especially because I have some fibroids on the left that can prevent some feeling. Plus the babies move around so much that you never really know who it is. I thought I was always feeling baby A, but after that ultrasound, it turned out that baby B had shifted so that his feet were on the same side as hers.

  • Yes and it drives me crazy!  I feel a ton of movement in my right lower quadrant and my left lower quadrant.  This makes me think they are both breech now and I am feeling legs/kicks below.  I rarely feel movement in either the left or right upper quadrant.  The further along I get....the more it bothers me.  The good news is that my twice weekly NSTs start soon.

  • There were several times when I thought I was only feeling one baby and would freak out.  Every time either the babies had moved or their limbs were overlapping so they were all in one general area.  Even when I was sure of their positions, it was so hard to tell whose foot or fist was whose.

  • In the beginning I felt our little girl a lot more (posterior placenta) than our little boy (anterior placenta). Now I feel them both - all the time! I think it probably had to do with the strength of their kicks at the beginning and the placement of their placentas.

  • Yes, I always feel baby A much much more than B and it worries me sometimes too, but U/S is always okay.
  • Until the last month or so, I would say 90% of the movement I felt was from Baby A! Then it switched, I think because Baby A was kind of locked in place, low and vertex, and Baby B had more room and freedom to move around at that point. Fortunately they were both healthy and fine but it is something to be mindful of. I rented a Doppler and that helped with peace of mind when I was worried about not feeling Baby B much.

  • Sometimes it's hard to tell who's who. It seems like it's easier to feel Baby B, but Baby A has an anterior placenta, so I don't know if that's affecting things.

I love the posts where women at 18 weeks are saying things like, "Baby keeps sticking her foot in my bladder!" I'm feeling really strong movements, and still can't tell which body part of theirs is hitting which body part of mine!

  • Yes! Baby B the boy is nonstop all day.  I don't think he sleeps at all.  Baby A the girl I have to remember through the day to pay attention and make sure I feel her.  I always worry about her and look forward to my u/s's each month.

At one point it was reverse and before I asked anything the u/s tech said he was positioned so that he was kicking her instead of me. I try to at least feel her a couple of times a day to ease my mind.

  • While I can feel both, I tend to feel baby B more because he is transverse up in my ribs and baby A is breech and down low. I can still feel her - but I feel him much more often. I assume it has to do with the positioning.

  • Yes, mine are in the same position as yours and I feel baby A much more.
  • Yes, I always felt Baby A, but had a hard time with B and C.  Now, I feel B and C and hardly ever feel Baby A anymore.  She is at the bottom of my belly, so I just figure she has the least amount of wiggle room
