Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???
i'm home and laid up with hip pain. . . so i'll start! hi ladies!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? E turned 9 months yesterday!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Other than fibro pain, i'm good . . . E has 4 teeth, just trying to pull herself up, and getting into EVERYTHING!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? 9 month check-up tomorrow . . . am excited to see her stats. she's soooo long--always in the 95th percentile for height!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? her increasing mobility. she's not crawling but scoots on her okole all over the place!
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? if she was a boy i'd feel different . . . but just took the standard route per my pedi's advice.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? every now and then they touch her . . . i always balk but never say anything . . . germs! but too chicken to say so!
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? a little complicated . . . i had gone in for major recurring pain, having had 3 ultrasounds to locate a supposed burst ovarian cyst . . . and then the pregnancy was found! he was so worried it was something else, so when i came home and had to report on the latest test, i told him, it was nothing cute or prepared . . . it was more like, " well, i had a burst cyst, which was why i have been so ill . . . but i am also PG!?!"
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
worries mamas have about LO's development? social lives post baby? friendships/work/relationship with H? age and stage compared to our friends?
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby?
i am the primary, but MH is awesome. he will do anything i ask, but i kind of run the show. and when i went back to work after 6 weeks, and before my grandmother came to take care of E, he stayed home for 2 months. so he's pretty involved. my chief complaint is that he sometimes thinks playing with her is her sitting on this lap while he watches ESPN . . .
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 7 weeks, 6 days - my little boys are 2 months old tomorrow!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm feeling pretty good - my libido is slowly returning, which is nice.
As far as my little dudes go, I think the new things they're doing are cooing a lot more (they were doing it before now, but now they do it all.the.time, whenever they see Ben or me) and blowing bubbles occasionally.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Uhhh...I need to make one, actually. I think they have a 3 month check up that I need to schedule. Also one for me to get an IUD.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Hmm. I don't know! It's been a fairly mellow week...
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? We're just going with what our doctor recommended, which I think is the traditional schedule. Maybe there are better ways of doing it, but we were comfortable with this.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? Luckily no one has ever tried to touch one of the boys or I'd probably be arrested for assault lol. We do get plenty of lookie-loos (eeeeeeveryone wants to see twins), which is annoying because they have a habit of running over to where we are and then suddenly halting dead in front of the stroller, forcing us to stop with sharp jerk. One of these days I'm just going to keep going and whack someone in the shins.
I have a friend who actually had a total stranger come up and try to remove her newborn daughter from the stroller - when my friend asked the woman WTF she thought she was doing and to get the hell away from her baby, the woman actually had the nerve to be offended! People are crazy...
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? Nothing fancy: I took the test fairly early one morning and it was positive - so I crawled back into bed and showed it to him. And then cried.
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? When did you start a bedtime routine with your LO? What do you do when someone offers you unsolicited or bad advice (can't remember if I already gave you this question!)?
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby? I do probably 80% of the caring, which is fine and to be expected - I'm the one on maternity leave after all lol - but he contributes quite a bit, which I appreciate. He helps with feeding, diaper changing and bathing when he's home, and he looks after them for about 30 min after he gets home each day so I can have a shower and some time to myself. He also does one feed (around 7.30am) every morning so I can get a little bit more sleep before he leaves for work. Oh, and on the weekends he will often do two morning feeds so I can have a nice sleep in.OK seriously, what IS it with guys and doing this? Ben thinks that playing with them is having them lying in their bouncers next to him while he plays a computer game or watches TV. What part of "interaction" do men not understand?
LOL -- DH does this too! Except now that she's crawling and pulling up so much, he can't really just sit on the couch, he had to be more active or she'll be outta there! Hahahahaha.

We just do what our pediatrician does.(6)How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that?
Strangers can say hi or compliment how cute Alexa is but NO TOUCHING! People don't understand that babies suck on their hands so they always try to hold their hands. With a person, shaking your hand is one thing. With a baby, that's like going up to stranger and sticking your fingers in their mouth! It always annoys me. Even friends and family who don't know better do this and then it's even harder to wash her hands after.(7)How did you tell your husband you were pregnant?
He was there when we took the test.Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby?In the morning...... When she wakes up, he goes in and picks her up from the crib and changes her diaper. He then carries her to me, in bed, and i nurse her. I then get her dressed. I usually pack the bottles and whatever else she needs for daycare, but he helps sometimes. They leave and he drops her off at daycare. In the evening....... He picks her up from daycare and we meet back at home at 6:30. We take turns feeding and bathing her. Usually one of us will feed her while the other gets the bath ready, etc. Then we both go upstairs to her bedroom. I put her diaper on, onesie, then sleepsack, brush her hair. He gives her nasal spray. We sit down on his lap and DH reads her "The Going to Bed Book." He then kisses her goodnight and turns down the dimmer light and turns the lamb sound machine on. I nurse her while he goes downstairs and cleans up the bath and her high chair, then starts dinner. She STTN now but I used to get up to feed her if she wakes up.Additionally...... I wash and fold her laundry, which we do about every other week. I wash all bottles and pump parts, although he will do this sometimes if I need help. I make sure to order or buy what we need in terms of diapers, wipes, food, etc. He changes the diaper genie once a week. I can't think of anything else!

Baby Blog
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? Zach is 1 week, 1 day old
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? At this point, every day is a new milestone! Yesterday he finally gained a little bit of weight, so hopefully that was his turnaround and he'll continue gaining.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? No appointments for Zach yet, since he gets around-the-clock attention at the hospital.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Um, the whole week? I'd say the most difficult thing was leaving the hospital without Zach. Also, I have this constant feeling of "guilt" of being home with maternity leave when I don't have the baby home with me. But I have to remind myself that I'm also recovering too.
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? I'm just going to go with whatever is recommended. DH is in the medical field, and I work for a pharmaceutical company, so we don't really have any hesitations on vaccines.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? Thankfully, I didn't have anyone try to touch my bump. I know it would have really bothered me. I'm very protective of my personal space. Even my BIL asked if he could touch it and I said no. And with strangers touching Zach? I know I'll freak out! With everything going on, I have a feeling I'll be extra paranoid about dirty hands touching my baby.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? Hee hee, I couldn't say it out loud! I called him over to the bathroom to see for himself.
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby? Right now, when we're visiting Zach in the hospital, I've been feeding Zach from the bottle as he develops his sucking reflex. The nurses have us change the diaper when we're there, and we both do that.
I expect this to happen to us

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 21w2d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Still feeling good but getting heavier everyday. I love feeling her kicks :-).
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next regular appointment is Thursday next week.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Falling asleep! I think my body is having a hard time adjusting back to East coast time after being out on the West . Since we got back, I don't fall asleep until 12a,1a or sometimes even 2a!! Last night was the first night I went to bed at 10a! I still feel sleepy right now though.
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? Have not thought about this yet.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? I am a germophobe so I am sure I won't feel comfortable having strangers touch LO.
I also feel weird when people touch try to touch my bump. I feel like they are feeling my love handles lol.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? Here's my story.
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby? Since we do not have an LO yet, I basically do all the baby-related research and discuss with DH what I have found out. He is very supportive though and will go with me to stores and such. I included him in all decision making and he has been an active participant.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
4 months + 4 days
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Kaya discovered that she can pull that thing on her bouncer to make the music play. She did it on her own yesterday for the first time and then she wouldn't stop doing it! I think she really made the connection that she was making the music come on. It was so cute.
Also, I've determined that she already has stranger anxiety. On Sunday, I picked up my friend and her bf for lunch and as soon as my friend got in the back seat with Kaya, she started to cry. Hard. She's started crying when some other friends have tried smiling at her and talking to her when she was in her stroller, too.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
She has her 4 month check up on Wednesday. Can't wait to see how much she's grown!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
She was kinda fussy when we went to lunch with my friend and her bf. But otherwise, it's been uneventful. And her sleep has been improving so I can't complain!
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more?
We read The Vaccine Book by Dr Sears and discussed it with our pedi. She had a different modification in mind, so we went with that. We split up the 2/4/6 month shots so she got Hib & Prevnar at 2 months (and will get them at 4 and 6 months) and DTaP and Polio at 3 (and will get them at 5 and 7 months). We decided to skip the rotavirus vaccine since she won't be in daycare, which is where most kids catch that. We didn't start her Hep B series yet, either, so I need to figure out when to start that. Probably at one year.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that?
Ugh. Had this happen for the first time the other day at lunch. A little old lady just came by and put her finger out and Kaya grabbed on to it. I didn't say anything but I put hand sanitizer on her hand afterward!
As for the bump, I never had a stranger touch my bump. But people at work did it all.the.time! I don't know why, since so many of us were pregnant. It kinda bugged me at first but I got over it.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant?
I just woke him up and showed it to him. He just went back to sleep! Haha. (I had had a positive the day before, too, but I wasn't totally convinced it was positive because the line was so faint. I guess he already thought I was pregnant so when I showed him the digital it just confirmed it for us.)
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby?
He'll do whatever I ask him to. He's pretty good about helping me without me asking, too. When we're both home we pretty much split duties. I'll hand her off to him if I need to do something - shower, use the bathroom, etc. He takes it upon himself to wash the diapers when they need to be washed. He'll put away her laundry (although I'm picky about where stuff goes so I'd kinda rather do this myself).
When I'm working he's home with her so he does everything, obviously. I work nights so after I leave he has to feed her and maybe put her down for one last nap before feeding again and then doing the whole bedtime routine.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling fine, though I still don't think I'm sleeping enough. too busy with work
I noticed over the weekend that my linea nigra is darkening (already?!) so i read a little more about it - i think it's just 'cause i'm a little darker skinned, not due to lack of folic acid...i think my diet is pretty healthy and includes all the right stuff...
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? 7/6 (3 weeks!), for the big u/s!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? nothing really. biggest challenge is trying to plan 3 trips (babymoon, visit grandparents, visit sister, who just bought a new place) after my work travel schedule settles down, but before baby comes. i can't seem to commit to any dates, as i'll be at least 24 weeks by then, and have no idea how i'll be feeling! not to mention i'm feeling cheap with vacation time since i want to hoard it all until baby comes...
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? i'm looking forward to other people's answers! lots of traditional schedules so far. this is on my to-research list
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? haven't come across this yet, have no idea how i'll feel when it does happen...! as for baby - no touching! i'll use the winter and easier-to-get-sick then as an excuse - hands off!
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? MH was out of town and I didn't want to wait, so while we chatting on IM, i sent him a photo of the HPT, which said "a line is a line is a line" (only 12 dpo, so pretty faint!). "what does a line mean?" "what do you think it might mean? 0=)" "mmm. that there is a baby?!" haha.
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
ugh - happens in our house too! DH always says, me and Jack had so much fun - he loves watching cardinals baseball/nba playoffs/other random sport. Ummmm, no he doesn't. He would much rather watch you play with him or read books.
We are totally on opposite ends of the babies and television spectrum. But I always have to remind myself, if that is our biggest issue then we are doing pretty good because also like you DH will pretty much do anything and everything that is asked or pointed out to him.
Too funny, Britt! Just like the others, I can totally see this happening with MH, as well! MH can get pretty emotional, i.e., loud, when he watches sports. He freaks out our cats as it is and sometimes I need to leave the room when he watches sports because he startles me! He'll need to work on keeping his outbursts in check once baby is here.
I will say DH picked up on this quickly - just watching Jack make a sad face and start to cry made DH quickly learn to quietly enjoy his sports. Jack (appropriately) hates sudden movement and loud noises.
We are excited to take Jack to my college FB games this fall - my dad bought him those noise canceling ear muffs like Drew Brees' son had on at the Super Bowl just to help Jack adjust to the noise - hopefully we have something to cheer about this year to make the necessary
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 4mo this Saturday
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? nothing much - Jack is doing really well with his new care provider - DH's cousin. She has nanny and daycare experience so I feel even better than when MIL was caring for him - she had lots of love to share but her well meaning advice and way of doing things was not always exactly what I wanted.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? a 4 mo. well baby soon.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Jack had a meltdown in public - glad those are few and far between.
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? our ped office has 2 standard schedules - the tradition or the more spaced out. We selected the spaced out - he will get them all but we go pretty much monthly. I think the office has it on hand just so all dr.s can use it and it helps maintain some sort of consistency for children not getting the standard schedule - but I'm not sure they actually use it that often. She did try to push a few more than that loose schedule has b/c he will be going to daycare.
It is nice though, the non-well baby/shots only visits are not even charged as office visits (no co-pay) and they schedule them first thing in the a.m. which helps for work schedules.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? it has only happened once or twice. I always say he doesn't do well with strangers and give them the stink eye. One crazy lady at the grocery did ask if she could hold him b/c her grandchildren live in CA and she needed a baby fix. Ummmm no. A 3-ish year old at church as if he could "pet" the baby - his parents cut that off right away, but it was kind of cute.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? nothing special, just told him it was positive and he didn't believe it. wow, that feels like a million years ago. I don't remember the date, but it had to be about now b/c my O date was 6/2.
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby?
now that I'm back to work it's pretty even but it took some pressure on my part to get him to assume regular duties (bottle washing, getting Jack ready in the morning) - at first he would try to say he would hold/entertain Jack while I did it. Nope, not going to cut it buddy.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 20w4d...more than halfway through already!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm feeling really good. I've been eating a bit more sweets than I'd like to (family gatherings, etc.) and am making it a point to get back on track with healthier foods this week. I've been feeling baby move more and more, which I absolutely love. We also did a lot of purging, cleaning and organizing this past weekend, which did a number on my sinuses. It's a huge relief to get started on those projects, though! I can't wait for our prefolds to come in. I need to come up with a way to organize all of our diapers.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next monthly check-up is on Monday! We'll see how much weight I've gained.
I know healthy weight gain is a good thing, but I'm not feeling so good about it in light of all the brownies and pie I had.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Dealing with the used carseat issue with my mom.
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? I think we'll do a traditional schedule, but we'll discuss it with our pediatrician (once we find one).
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? I haven't had problems with strangers trying to touch my bump. My two SILs have both touched it, though. One asked permission first. The other didn't, which bothered me, but I didn't say anything.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? I POAS at about 11PM on a Monday night. I saw a really faint line. MH was working the graveyard shift at the time so I e-mailed the photo to him at work and asked, "Do you see just one line or two lines?" He wrote back, "I don't know. What does that mean? Also what camera spit out that file name?" (I named the photo something like BFP 10DPO. He was most concerned about the photo filename.
) I called him up and told him what two lines would mean. He wasn't really convinced (neither was I, even though a line is a line) and told me to try again the next morning (another faint BFP). He still wasn't convinced until I got my BFP blood test results on Wednesday morning.
whoa, that's the first time i've heard of that!
haha, that's hilarious! i could totally see MH getting distracted by something like that. a lso, i thought it was weird when MH asked me "what does a line mean?" (like, um, what do you *think* it means?!), but i guess boys don't talk/think about these things. haha.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 34 weeks, 2 days
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Well, the "Donkey Crotch" (I think that's what we were calling it?) has set in.
I have sooo much downward pressure, and some sharp pains, too. I had an OB appt. yesterday, though, and she didn't seem concerned. It is painful, though!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? in 2 weeks
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Dealing with my emotions, I guess. I burst into tears pretty much every day. Sometimes because I'm overwhelmed, sometimes because I'm scared of what's coming (and soon!), and sometimes because I'm so overwhelmed with happiness.
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? We plan on going with what out pedi recommends. MH is in the medical field, and feels pretty strongly that we need to stick with the traditional schedule, and I'm fine with that, too.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you andtouching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, howdo you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How doyou handle that? I haven't had a lot of bump-touching. In fact, I can only think of 3 or 4 occasions when it's happened, and they all asked permission first. It would have bothered me if strangers did it randomly, though.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? Tee-hee! I had taken the test in the morning, but didn't want to tell him right before he went to work, so I kept it to myself that whole day. When he came home from work that night, I had placed a hot dog bun in the oven (He looooves hot dogs and eats them constantly. In fact, they call him "The Hot Dog Doc" at work!). We chatted about our days for a few minutes, then I said "Could you do me a favor, and check the oven for a second?" He asked why, worried that it was broken or something. When he opened it and saw it, he was confused at first, staring at it for a few seconds. He then asked "Why is there....." and I finished with "a bun in the oven?" His eyes got wide, and he said "Oh, my God.....really?!?!" Then he ran over and hugged me, so excited!
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
Do NOT feel guilty! I had the same feeling when my boys were in the nursery for a few days when I had my epidural headache and couldn't care for them (at all, not feeding or diaper changing or anything). Like you said, you're recovering too.
I got a dark brown belly button too - no linea negra, just the belly button! It hasn't exactly flaked off though, and is still brown even now. I do exfoliate it when I'm washing (and also rub it with a dry Q-tip when I get out of the bath or shower, which seems to help), but it's taking a while to come off. I hate it - it's like a bull's eye!
LMAO!

How do you handle that? don't care nothing for strangers touching him and when people come over to see him they have to wash their hands first.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? I can really remember but I took a test a few days before we were scheduled for the u/s to see if our IVF worked
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby? right now I do most of it b/c i'm home but he does help with the night time feedings and anything else i need when he gets home
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? feeling good...it is just soooo hot here already & I just can't seem to cool off.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Had my GD test yesterday. I haven't heard back from the dr's office yet with results yet. Next appt is supposed to be in 2 weeks, but they forgot to give me the orders for my Rh.... shot. I guess it is time sensitve in that I get it during my 28th week so I may have to go in next week to get it (pending DH's blood test...I made him go get a blood test to make sure he is the blood type we think he is)
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? nothing specific...maybe a few headaches dealing with mom & my baby shower
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more? i would like a more spaced out schedule...need to find a pedi who is on board
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that? I can't imagine a stranger ever trying to touch someone's child. I am definitely not okay with it...I am not okay with a stranger touching me...muchless my infant!! and I agree with making any family/friends wash their hands first!
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant? he was in the bathroom with me while we waited. Almost instantly a 2nd line popped up & he started yelling "there's two lines!" it was pretty cute!
This could have totally been me writing this. I cry soooo easy these days. Saturday night watching the Star Trek movie, his dad dies & I was sobbing uncontrollably. Just one little thing gets me thinking & then it is all over with. sigh. just another one of the joys of out of control hormones I guess!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
20 weeks and 3 days
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Libby is growing like a weed...she had her pedi appt. on Monday and is 26 inches long, 20 lbs. 8 oz. and head is measuring 16.5 inches! She is getting WAY more mobile and I suspect she might be ready to crawl soon. She is also tripod sitting, which is fun.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Just had her 4 month appt. on Monday...she got more shots which has made her crabby the past two days. Poor baby.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Honestly? Trying to figure out what will happen if I lose my job. I have secretly been wishing to be a SAHM but never did imagine that it might come about this way. We shall see.
(5) How did/will you decide on a vaccination schedule? Best resources to learn more?
We read the Sears book and online resources and discussed it with our pedi.
(6) How do you feel about strangers coming up to you and touching your baby when out on a walk or at a store? For PG ladies, how do you feel about people touching your bump (stranger or not)? How do you handle that?
Thankfully my bump was only touched twice in an awkward side hug from an acquaintence. Otherwise, it was just J and my mom who touched my belly when I was PG.
I usually wear Libby in a fabric carrier when we're out, which has limited strangers touching her although it has happend twice. It's weird because they really have to get into your personal space to do it. Both times I was in a check-out line at a store. So I learned quickly to make sure there is physical distance between me and the strange lady who's looking a little too interested in Libby.
(7) How did you tell your husband you were pregnant?
It was his Bday when I POAS. I took the positive test back to bed with me (it was early, early in the morning) and spooned him and tucked it in his hand and whispered, "Happy Birthday Daddy" He woke up immediately and bleary-eyed tried to read the test (it was a FRER)...it was awesome!
(8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
I am always curious about how folks are finding balance in their lives. Budgeting questions/ideas are great. Since we're getting ready to introduce solids I'd love to hear about that...what foods people are feeding, what equipment they like (high chair, splat mat, utensils, plates, etc.). Also a question about traveling with babies...tips for the airplane/airport, sleeping when not at home, etc.
Mamas: How do you and DH divide your responsibilities when it comes to taking care of the baby?
We have a very equitable split of the duties...well, it's more like each of us is giving 100% when it comes to her care. DH is very hands on and is home with her during most days while I am at the office. He also does her laundry (diapers and clothes), etc. as much as I do. I generally am responsible for bathing her since we do it in the evenings and he's usually at work, as well as putting her down for the night since she nurses to sleep and we bed-share. But he is the one who gets her down for most naps, etc. so it's all good.
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
