Babies: 0 - 3 Months

formula users come in

if you have an 8oz RTF bottle and want to divide it into 3 bottles can u leave it out at room temp? if so how long?

when did you start powder? same question as above as well.

Re: formula users come in

  • You're supposed to put the bottles in the fridge right after you fill them. Also the bottle of formula after you have opened it. I would say an hour max.

Powder tends to make babies more gassy, although every LO is different. I'm keeping DD on the RTF until three months then I'll try the powder and see if she has a bad reaction.

  • No your suppose to put it in the fridge and can use it up to 48 hours later. I'm not sure how long you can keep it out, I also throw it away if its been sitting longer than an hour.

    Same for powder...

I started with powder since I was EBF before, but I use RTF formula when we have to go somewhere that way I know it's not going to go bad until I open it

  • Not sure on your first question.  We use powder formula now - as soon as we ran out of what the hospital gave us, so a couple days old.

  • We started using powder as soon as we ran out of the RTF that the hospital gave us.  With the powder, you can mix it and it is good for 2 hrs at room temp or 1 hr after the baby starts to feed.  I think it is good for up to 4 hours after mixing if kept in the fridge.
  • you can leave it out for 2 hours

I didn't think it was good at room temperature at all?!?!

But I do know that it is good for 24hrs after mixing and kept in the fridge.
