Parenting after 35

Hi all !!!

I'm back from vacation ... i've actually been back for a few days but had to recover from the time diference and the 9hr plane flight.  Even though I had a fantastic time and have been beyond exhausted, it feels great to be be home.  I missed my DH and he missed us a whole lot too!  Nicholas was such a champ with everything from the plane flights to the long drives and late hours.  I thought enough to bring the car DVD player with me and it worked wonders on those long road trips (BTW - thank you ELMO for teaching my son how to do a raspberry! LOL!)  We tasted all sorts of wonderful foods and my son now LOVES croissants and baguettes!  We also visited a lot of vineyards and old monuments/castles.  I have SO many pictures that I need to download off my i-phone so stay tuned for new siggie pics!  :o)

A big congrats to all the new mommies on here, it's great to see new faces and my oh my! how our LO's have grown, I just love all the new pics and reading about the new milestones!

Onto twin news:  I just got back from the High risk OB and all is well, the LO's are measuring & weighing the same (off by 1oz) and are both in the 50th percentile.  One is breach but can and will obviously move around alot.  In fact, they both ARE moving around a lot and driving mommy crazy (but it's a good crazy).

I have SO much to catch up on, so please do share more exciting news with me!

XOXO,

Bea

  • Great news Bea, Glad all is well and glad you had a great trip..You were missed!

  • YAY!  So glad you're back!!  How was N when you all reunited with DH?  You all must have been soooo happy to see each other again!  We've got a flight planned in August to Washington State - not quite a flight to France but a long flight nonetheless from Florida, so whatever tips you can share is appreciated!

So glad the twins are doing well - can't believe N is almost a year old!  Do you have plans for a birthday party?  Delaney has now mastered rolling front/back and back/front, and can sit for short periods of time, but she's still working on sprouting her first tooth.  She has also learned to whistle, kind of...she purses her lips together and breathes in and out and sometimes makes a noise.  She sees us whistle and I think is trying to copy...she is so proud of herself whenever she makes a sound.

Looking forward to seeing some updated pics -

    Welcome home Bea!!!!

    Welcome home Bea!!!!

DH was super excited to see LO and LO was all surprised to see him and then finally realized who it was and started getting all giddy!

Hmmmm, flight preparedness: make sure she eats well before going on the plane, you'll have a good chance of her taking a nice nap during the beginning of the flight.  They say to try to feed them a bottle during take-off and landing (but I honestly think that landing was the most important).  Ask for a seat with a bassinette attached to the wall or when you get to the airport (if the plane is not full) see if you can get an empty row (much better than the bassinette - for us anyways as N was already too big).  You'll have plenty of room to relax and Delaney can sleep on the seats next to you and DH.  Also, they can and will take the stroller up to the gate but ask them if they can actually store it inside the closet of the plane and not in the baggage compartment below.  When I arrived in Paris, I had to carry N all the way to the baggage claim, not fun with my big belly...so I made sure they actually took my stroller in during the return flight so I would have it with me as soon as I got off the plane.  I brought my own food, but call up your airline before you leave and let them know you are traveling with an infant, they should have a few jars of baby food for her ready.  If I think of something else, I'll make sure to let you know...but have a GREAT time!

Birthday party- no, unfortunately not.  my parents are still over in France so I don't want them to feel left out if I have a big party.  We're just going to go out to eat at a local restaurant that we always go to.  The waitresses are absolutely in love with N (and have seen me pregnant with him) so I think it will be kinda cute to have his 1st Bday there.

YAY for Delaney and all the new milestones!!  LOVE the fact that she can actually whistle, how cute!  Nicholas is very jealous-hahaha

BTW - update on job in Tampa.... I've now been offered 2 SAH jobs (one in CA and the other one may very well be the Tampa one).  I've convinced them that I can do what they need me to do from home and if need be, travel to Tampa a few times a month. Neither jobs will be ready for at least a few more months but YAY!  I'll keep you updated .... we'll have to meet for coffee!  :o)

Yes, yes - keep me updated!  We will definitley meet for coffee if you take the Tampa job.  I actually have a meeting in July at the Boca Raton Resort that I'm planning.  It's not essential that I be there, but my boss has said I can bring LO and DH if I want - however, DH can't get the time off and I can't be away from LO since I'm nursing (and have no stash) so I'm not going Sad  But, one of these days we WILL meet up!
