Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Can they eat acorn squash?

I'm assuming when you buy squash in the jars it is butternut squash. Is this right? I make my own baby food and I have an acorn squash and was wondering if it was ok for them to eat. Anyone know? I am reading Super Baby Food and it said not to feed them sqaush until 6 months but this can't be right considering I see the very little jars of squash in the store. HELP please!

thanks

it's on the least likely list to cause an allergic reaction, I'd do a little more research but if it comes up as fine I would assume that acorn squash is fine

  • Yes, I've fed it to DD and she loves it.  I'll also mix it with (non-sweetened) applesauce.  I've also made pureed Kabocha squash and that was a hit too.
  • My LO loved acorn squash!! I just gave it to him a couple of days ago, and it was a little thin so I mixed it with some oatmeal.
  • I bought Earth's Best Winter Squash, which I believe contained acorn.  DS Pedi said to give him any fruits or veggies...nothing is off limits.
