Has anyone tried the nuva ring??

I will be going for my 6 week visit next week and will be discussing birth control options. I just stopped pumping this weekend so I know that I will not be limited to the mini pill. In fact I am thinking of maybe trying the nuva ring. I was on the combination pill forever and was getting so many migraines with in. Does anyone know if you get the same side effects from the nuva ring as you do from the pill. I really don't want to go back to migraines all the time and GI upsets. Please let me know your experiences with the ring and would you recommend it!

I used the Nuvaring for a while, and liked it. I also got headaches on the combo pill, and on the Nuvaring i got them way less frequently. Also, the hormone in Nuvaring doesn't have to pass through your liver first so that may also lessen GI stuff. Downsides for me were that my DH could feel it when we were having sex so I ended up taking it out alot which is totally not recommended and we're pretty lucky I didn't get pregnant on it!

I used it. My DH said he could feel it when we had sex but it didn't bother him enough for me to take it. It says on the package you can take it out for so long, so no biggie if you do take it out for sex. I really liked it. I used it for a few months then we decided to TTC and it only took about 3 mo to concieve.

My name is Jenn Scott too!  Too funny!!  The Estrogen in Birth Control is what causes headaches, so if you are prone to headaches you would want to be on the lowest dose birth control possible.  I am not sure what dose they consider Nuva Ring. HTH!

Thanks girls! I will definately be asking my OB what he recommends to help minimize headaches and GI side effects. But I am leaning towards trying the nuva ring. It just seems so nice not to have to take a pill everyday!!

i tried this a while ago and while i enjoyed the ring itself- it gave me massive bad headaches..did not have those when i was on pill or patch. they went away as soon as i stopped using it.  hth!

I was on it for about 6 months.  My DH could feel it during sex and it gave me yeast infections (which I never had before or after)!  If not for those two things I would have loved it, no remembering to take anything:)
