Can anyone help me with a Photoshop question?

I tried googling, but I'm not finding much so I'm hoping someone here can help.  I'm making a graduation party invitation for my sister...  All of the photos my step-mom sent me to use are at 72 dpi so I made the invitation file/image 72 dpi.  The photos look good, but the font looks terrible!

Is there any way to fix the font to make it look crisper and not so pixel-y at 72 dpi?  Or is there something I can do to make these 72 dpi photos able to be used in a higher res file?

FWIW, I had a different invitation designed for her (using a higher res photo) at 400 dpi, and the font looks perfect there.  Now that she doesn't want to use that photo anymore, and wants the other photos that have low res, it looks junky :(

TIA for any help!!!

Try rasterizing your text before you print it.  Right click on the font layer and choose "rasterize".  You won't be able to edit the text once it's rasterized, but that should help.
  • Loading the player...
  • Make sure you are in RGB mode and the font setting is on Smooth.  You also want to make sure you are viewing the photo at 100%

  • you could always import the photo into illustrator and do all your text there.

  • What version of Photoshop are you using?

You should also set your PSD to more than 72dpi, like 300, it won't make a difference for the photos that are already 72dpi but will, as you've seen, make a difference for your text.

You could also try to resize the 72 dpi photo using the "Bicubic Smoother" setting. I work at a newspaper where we cheat sometimes using that, and the blur tool to reduce pixelation.

It's CS3 v.10.0.1.  I actually just changed it to 300 and I think it worked!  Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions!!!
