This is specific to packing lunches for school, what do you send for a protein? I normally pack chicken, hamburger, or lunch meat (which I don't like to send too often b/c of the sodium). He WILL NOT touch peanut butter so that's out of the question. If I can send leftovers from dinner I do (like a roast or something). I am so tired of giving him the same old stuff. Any ideas on how to prepare these things differently? Oh, I have tried beans too....doesn't really eat them anymore.
Re: Protein
i'm in toddler lunchbox hell right now. lol DD starts school tomorrow and we have to start packing her lunch. I have been researching bento boxes (see below) and trying to follow that.
One big thing seems to be eggs - hard boiled and cut in half, egg salad.
Tofu (you may not eat it, but he might). chicken nuggets. fish sticks. All these things can be in the organic (and therefore slightly healthier section)
Any dairy product is going to have his protein - cheese, yogurt, mac and cheese
he will eat scrambled eggs but not hard boiled but I will try it again. never tried tofu i need to give it a try too!
i always thought chicken nuggets and fish sticks were crap but if i can find some that are healthy i would prefer that and he may not give me much of a choice, lol.
i do yogurt in lunches but he will not eat plain cheese.
thanks for some ideas! i am in lunchbox he!! too
This is the brand that I have bought before: https://www.iansnaturalfoods.com/entrees.html
I'm only going off what I've seen in my student's lunch boxes since DD has been in an in-home. (I may be right there with yall in August.)
-yogurt, pudding, string cheese
-tuna, salmon (canned)
-chicken: nuggets, strips, salad
