Wierd question

Okay so have anyof you ever heard of guar gum?? I guess it is in some foods and used as a binding agent but it is said that it may not be safe suring pregnancy. This is just crazy-maybe I am just paraniod. Just interesting-

Re: Wierd question

  • I was posting this because I normally look at the ingredients of something before I eat it (if I have never had it before) to make sure it is safe for baby but this lemonade cup that I bought has that stiff in it. Yes, I am paranoidConfused

Are you eating huge quantities of it?  If not, I wouldn't worry.  I've never even heard of the stuff.
  • I had not heard of it either-until now :( And no I had a few bites of this lemonade thing but now I am paranoid. It's in the trash-its not that good anyway.

PS) Thank you for thinking I am not crazy :)

  • I eat foods with this ingredient all the time and I have no concerns with it.
  • okay thank you. I am over-paraniod sometimes.
  • guar gum is a very common ingredient. It's similar to an ingredient called xanthan gum which is a binding ingredient. Many times it is used in foods that don't contain wheat flour in order to make the other ingredients bind and create the desired texture. It's harmless. Don't worry.

  • I wouldn't worry too much.  There is always something bad to be found in everything we eat and drink if you look for it.

  • You've probably already eaten a lot of it without realizing.  It's used in many things.  The coffee shop I used to work in made a frappuccino-type drink that had guar gum in it.  It's kind of everywhere.
