    I've used Ebay more often.  But, this is what I like about each: 

    Ebay - reliability (based on reviews) and shipping.

    Craigslist - You can see it in person and decide before you buy.

    I've never used ebay. Craigslist has been an awesome source for baby stuff for us. I love seeing the item in person and negotiating from there, and if we decide we don't want the item, it's no big deal.

    I've used both... I that CL is free and you can go by and pick up.. Ebay you can sell to anyone but you have to pay listing and shipping fee. Ebay is good I think for collectibles or small items. CL is good for furniture.

    It really depends on the item.  I've used both also.

    On Ebay I've bought things like collectibles and a lot of my wedding goodies - like the pewter palm trees I used as place card holders.  I've bought shoes from Ebay and other small items.  Not good for large things.  I've also sold there and it's fairly simple.

    Criagslist is free and better for local things, so any larger items you want to buy/sell.  But be careful of scams, there are a lot of people out there looking to take advantage.

    I've bought a lot over the yrs on eBay, and love it!  I personally think it is the most reliable, at least for the items I've bought.  Yes, as a seller, it s*ucks b/c of the fees, but I think it is worth it b/c you get a guarantee of sorts.

    I listed once on CL, and got a lot of spam, which was a waste of time.  However, my mom has listed a lot of her office furniture and has been successful.  Perhaps like pp said, it is best for furniture and large items difficult to ship.

    I litterally got my kitchen sink in eBay.  It was almost $1000 (nothing special) at Home Depot (just sink)... I got the serial # and such, and went searching.  And got the sink, accessories, and shipping for about $400!  We've also bought the home theater, and even placed a bid for a NEW double stroller!

    I think the most imp thing when buying is to focus on reviews and if buying from an actual store, which I normally do.  GL
