kick count

Good morning everyone! Just wondering when they started you doing a kick count? I have been told to not worry so much right now if i don't feel them constantly all day (so hard though) so i was just wondering when they do have you pay more attention.

Thanks!

Re: kick count

  • I had an anterior placenta with Emerson and I have an anterior placenta with Baby A this go around as well.  I feel Baby B much more.  That being said, my dr always just asks if I can distinctly feel both babies each day every time I see her.  She has never asked me to keep a kick count.

  • One of mine also had an anterior placenta which made it a little harder to feel her movements at first.  My doctor never had me do a kick count, she also just asked at each appointment if I could feel the babies move.  I just made sure I could feel them each day and as long as I could, I didn't worry.  There were times where I couldn't feel one for a few hours but then they'd be kicking up a storm later.  I figure they were just sleeping or relaxing.

This is me exactly. I have not been asked to count kicks, and do not anticipate that my doc will ask me to.

Same here. Actually I got the "generic" handouts at each visit and when I got the one telling me to start doing handouts (I forget when; maybe the 30w appt?), I asked the OB about it and she said they are pointless with multiples since it can be hard to tell which baby is kicking. I had an anterior placenta as well, and it's also possible that one baby could be kicking his/her twin rather than you, so you wouldn't even feel it! But definitely try to notice if you're not feeling one or both babies as much and call your OB if you have concerns.

  • I was never asked to do a kick count either.  At my appointments the nurse just asks if I can feel movement.  But to be honest with you I'm not sure which one is kicking me.
