If you have moved please come in!!!

Ok so we are moving into a house next saturday!!! woo hooo!!!!!!!!

Please share your packing tips. Especially when it comes to LOs things

Generally when I am this close to moving...i go room to room and if I only *think* i will use it within the next week...it gets packed. But really...I am trying to pack EVERYTHING (except a few essentials) and just sucking it up until we move into the house.

Man i was way more ahead of the game when we moved from sc to tx last year.

Re: If you have moved please come in!!!

  • We packed everything expect a bag that had the must haves for DS (PNP to sleep in, blanket, bath items, diapers, wipes, noise maker, pacifiers etc..) Pretty much the items that we pack when we go on a weekend trip.

All else was packed away. Anything that I thought we might need to get to right way I put neon pink duck tap on it and labeled it.

Other then that we unpacked everything over a weekend so we did not have to worry about finding things, or needing things.

  • I stocked a laundry basket with paper towels, paper plates, plastic utensils, TP, cleaning products, soap, and hand towels.  I used towels to wrap breakables and put them in suitcases.  Put clothes in trash bags and put one over clothes on hangers.  I also used blankets and afghans to wrap my pictures.
  • I packed a suitcase for DS with everything he would need until we moved, and did the same for DH and I. Everything else was packed away.

Also, when I pack boxes I try to label EVERYTHING. So, I usually write DS room, then under that I write what's inside (blankets, bibs, etc.) just in case I end up needing something later I won't have to search through a million boxes.

     Good luck! Moving is stressful!

  • I did the same, moved when DS was about 9 months old and we had to put most of our stuff into storage because we hadn't bought a new house yet (moved in with my parents) so that was rough because I didn't know when we would get back into some of our stuff.  I just went room by room and packed what I knew we wouldn't need and then did the rest in groups of maybe, but probably not type boxes - so I labeled those more carefully and detailed in case I needed to find something.  I could literally remember everything that was in each box when I packed because I labeled it so well.  GL and yay for moving!

  • I packed everything but left one toy box untaped and DS only played with those for a week. Besides diapering and feeding. Are you guys leaving Texas or just buying a house?

  • Thats alot of moves in a yr!  We moved in gradually over time when ds was 6mos. so Im probably no help but I had the important stuff that I would need right away boxed up and stored in a "special" place so I could get to that first.

For us, it wasnt such a big deal since I was in lounge wear so I just wore that until ds was set up.  Good luck!
